Fitting Built in appliances.

We looked at firstbuy but in the end we just got a normal mortgage and knocked 40k off the price. On a 240k house you can see the markup they do.

Haven't read the whole thread but dishwashers and washing machines are incredibly easy to fit yourself. Just need some mole grips and a spanner + tissues for leak testing (optional)

It will depend whether the actual fittings themselves have been plumbed in - I would certainly expect them to be but with the developers these days, god knows.

OP ... check these videos out ...

... have you got such fittings available ? If so just follow the video - if you can fit a graphics card in your desktop PC then it is no more challenging.

The only difficulty I've ever experienced was with a rather annoying non-standard waste water tee connection which had a perished seal - replacing it with something standard from B&Q was basically like adult Lego find the right bits that slot together :O) ... I took the faulty thing with me to reduce the chance of having to make a further trip.

Post pics of what you are working with and I'll give you the links to the bits you will require.

In built are a lot more tricky than freestanding don't confuse the two.

I would buy the fridge freezer as the kitchen manufacturer usually aligns their units in split 50/50 70/30 etc with the cabinet units they sell and you have to vent and jack up, aligning the doors is difficult as well as getting the sliders to work.

Fitting a dishwasher is tricky as it will have springs to tension the return and stay down, most will have a template you selotape to the back of the unit then drill.

I think a washing machine will just sit behind a hinged door.

I have just fitted my whole kitchen with Baumatic, double cooker, 5 burner hob with wok burner, extractor, 50 / 50 fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, glass splash back, and a griddle plate, cost £1300 - 1400 direct from Baumatic delivered, there's nothing wrong with any of it, yes the sides of the cooker and dishwasher seemed a bit flimsy but all still working and doing fine modern looks and simple.

Good luck with Baumatic. :D

Maccapappa is right about the doors for an inbuilt fridge freezer. Most doors are 50/50 now. We have just this second fitted one too!

Not getting into why we used the scheme.

If what I picked out after a quick browse is a bit rubbish. What brands should I look at?

I don't know if you have a different idea of graded than I do but when I graded products at Creda/Hotpoint the only thing wrong was blemishes.

Some graded appliances do have just blemishes, unfortunately a large percentage are not returned for that reason.

It would be best to get a kitchen fitter rather than a plumber,a couple of things to note.make sure there is no plumbing directly behind dishwasher or WM as these next to a standard unit size 570 deep there will be no room behind for pipes except for approx 100mm up from the floor at bottom also a larger gap is normally left for freestanding say 620mm and for integrated you want 600mm gap as for power you want either a socket in a adjacent unit or a non switched spur recessed behind and switched spur above ow and don't cut of the molded plugs as that will void your warranty.

I just found out that we've tightened up further against new build properties in the past few days. We consider them to be ~17% overvalued now. That'd mean on a 200K house, we think it's worth 165K.

ive not made this thread to discuss this.

i will have a look for bosch dish washer/washer.

this brand also for fridge and freezer?

I've said my bit and my conscience is clear.

I bought my place last year and had to strip out and put a new kitchen in. I went for Bosch on everything and everything so far has been excellent.

I went for these -

Bosch - Cooker Hood ( DHE645MGB )
Bosch - Dishwasher ( SRV43M03GB )
Bosch - Frost Free Fridge Freezer ( KGH34X50GB )
Bosch - Hob (Ceramic) ( PKE611C14D )
Bosch - Microwave Oven ( HMT75M461B )
Bosch - Single Oven ( HBA63A260B )
Bosch - Washing Machine ( WIS28440GB )

You have to register them for the 2nd year of the warranty, so that list of model numbers was on an email somewhere :) I was intending to go cheaper than those, but I kept talking myself into being cautious and going for the better models. The kitchen is gloss white, so the gloss black stuff contrasts nicely. I've had no issues in a year - but I wouldn't expect to have had any anyway.
