***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

There will be some performance and usability enhancements or tweaks. As to whether they all bring any benefit is debatable as the majority are not easily measurable but that is the nature of the custom rom arena and another debate.

It will also give you something to do and then talk about with fellow geeks. :D

snapdragon, Thanks

So who's installed it ?

I've just ordered a white one.

T-Mobile from mobies.co.uk

24months, 300mins, Unlimited Texts, 750MB of Data and the phone was free. £26pm and the first 3 months are half price. Plus £250 for my iPhone.

What's the best app to customise the LED light? I got a free one (Light Flow Lite) which is perfect but it won't work with Handcent (only the stock SMS app) unless I pay for it, which is a bit annoying as it goes my Gmail, missed call and low battery fine which are the only other ones I want.

Hi,

Can you explain what the H and H+ icons mean? I have come from an ip4 and so am used to seeing 3G when I get good signal.

EDIT: Also while I am asking a question. How do you multi task on the S3 (coming from an ip4 I double press the home button etc)?

Thanks

Simply, H is faster than 3G and H+ is faster than H.

Just seen the pebble blue in the flesh and the top of the phone is darker than the bottom. Is this right? I thought Samsung did a recall because the colours didnt match up.

S3 screen brightness is basically exactly the same as my S2. I avoid using auto as I find it's always just a tiny bit too dark so actually have mine always on 100% and don't really get any battery issues. Outside in direct sunlight it's perfectly usable. 50% brightness and you can see and use the screen if you concentrate in direct sunlight.

Oh gawd.....this is doing my piggin head in....shall I, shant I?

I mean my S2 is set up perfectly for me now - just how I want it, with my GoLauncher organised 'just so' with all my oft-used apps in folders etc for instant location!!

On the hardware front, I've got the extended life battery too, which means that's never an issue anymore, I mainly use it for music and vids, for which it's more than competent, occasional SatNav use - again does the job just fine when I've needed it! I've got the really smart-looking Sammy desktop charger, which doubles up as my night/alarm clock....

The S3 looks and sounds an awesome phone - but is it really worth the extra outlay, not to mention all hassle of getting all new accessories etc for it...???

I'm usually very impulsive when a new gadget comes out - esp phones....but the S2 is such a fantastic phone too.

A mate of mine's getting a new S3 today.....after a play with his (so to speak... :p) it might make my mind up for me!!

Decisions, decisions....

I was in exactly the same situation, I had my S2 setup just how I liked it, I'm not a phone power user and just like having a nice phone.

The camera is miles better on the S3, mainly because of no shutter lag so you won't ever miss a photo while it's saving or not letting you take a photo with is a massive bonus.

I'm selling my S2 to a friend with 2 batteries, an extended battery, a charging dock, an office power pack and 2 cases (just to show you all the extra bits and pieces I had for mine).

Battery on the S3 for me so far appears to be about 10%-20% better than the extended S2 battery.

Get it :)

Indeed, I've been using my S3 since Friday and love it, also had a S2 but I had to flash the O2 ROM on there because I'm selling it and it feels so small.

Couldnt use that device again :D

Haven't kept up with this thread, but has anyone managed to get a Pebble Blue from mobiles.co.uk and mobilephonesdirect, or similar?

I got mine from ur-mobiles yesterday. Not sure if they have anymore left. They pop up on the odd website here and there and you just have to be online and looking at the right time really :)

FWIW, Nandroid backups are 2GB+ on this monster!

Great thing though is that with CWM app you can choose to restore just the kernel setup if you often try different kernels, or modem or just the data partition etc. Makes restoration a breeze, saves time.

Ouch. Wish I had USB 3.0 on my PC because I usually just copy my back ups into separate folders before any major ROM.

Ah, what other ROMs to try before CM... no no. I best hold off for at least a week before doing anything.

Light Flow is the best... I have it configured with Go SMS, WhatsApp, GMail and Missed Calls :)

Underclocked and undervolted? Your battery life is going to be ridiculous!

Hopefully :)

With 1.2Ghz as the maximum speed it doesn't feel any different. To test properly I got a friend to change the setting and not tell me what it was set to. I played around with the phone for 5-10 minutes before the friend changed it again. I couldn't tell the difference :)
