Hi, quick question, the answer will basically decide whether i buy a dell ultrasharp u2711 / u3011 monitor.

Because the 1080p films aren't the native resolution of the monitor will they look worse than if i was watching them on a 1080p monitor.

thanks in advance, JJ

They will probally look on par to watching it on a 1080p monitor, if anything maybe a little worse but not much, imagine watching a 720p film on a 1080p monitor, the system upscales it so it fits and matches the monitors resolution.

If you ask a question such as will WQHD content look better on these high end monitors then the answer is definitely yes! No comparison! :D

I have 2560x1440 and blu-rays look stunning on it. I don't notice any image or stretching issues. No issues with any video media Tbh.

On the u3011 it depends on the settings of your videoplayer, it will be either stretched or have black bars (1080p = 16:9, 2560x1600 = 16:10).

I get black bars on my U3011 at 2560x1600. BluRays can look a little fuzzy if you're sitting really close. You'll want to be sitting back a bit to easily focus on the whole screen (e.g. 4ft away). I watched Band of Brothers BluRay last week and it was superb on the 30", however looked a bit grainy when I sat in my usual spot 2ft away.

Theoretically yes, because you're going to have to do some form of scaling to get it to fit the screen. Scaling will degrade the quality of the picture, especially if done badly.

In reality, you won't be able to tell. The excellent colour reproduction of those two screens, for example, will more than make up for it. Go buy!
