Britain braced for once-in-50-years storm to hit tonight

well its only the welsh and sw england so will teach them right for taking most of the best weather in the past decade.

Wouldn't even be on the news if it wasn't happening in England.. 55MPH is not fast.

Gusts maybe not so. Sustained winds of 55mph would be pretty nasty.

Still, I reckon it'll be ok. I looked at the pressure charts forecast, looks like it'll linger for a day or 2 directly over the UK unfortunately.

The wind has nothing to do with it, the rain is what is the news...

Although how many times have we had "once in a lifetime" storms recently that have in fact just been damp squibs...

My mate is a weather forecaster in-the-making at the MET, but they've been so busy with exams he neglected to tell me I'm going to need a boat tomorrow.

So a little bit of rain and a light breeze?

well, it has been 'spitting' all day, so that might constitute a flood to the ants maybe?

oh, and it was a bit gusty earlier too, im 99% sure I felt a breeze on my neck earlier, but cant be 100% sure.

e: on a serious note, does anyone know what time its meant to kick off, coz I really want the drunks outside my house to just **** off.
