Britain braced for once-in-50-years storm to hit tonight

Yesterday we had awesome sunshine here in Newcastle. Today I woke up and it is raining and we got battered winds everywhere. And shows no signs of stopping either.
 
Bah storms and rain, bring it on i say, just keep clear off North yorkshire :)

Oh and maybe while the floods are happening fling some bagheads and chavs into the raging torrents, may as well make the most of it i say.
 
this would explain why my cat was ****ing himself last night. For the first time ever came up and slept right up near my head. Normally he's a foot sleeping cat.
 
Best weather for a few days (maybe weeks) in Torbay, blue sky and sun. Calm before the storm perhaps :confused:

Bit rainy last night but nothing catastrophic.
 
seems to be brightening up now, maybe it just wasn't meant to be. or maybe it was a big government thing to get everyone to focus on a fictitious storm whilst they went about some serious hush hush business :p

and once in 50 years storm? the last decent one we had was 1987 if memory serves, certainly not 50 years ago lol
 
worst storm in 50years?? i dont thinkso,last bad storm was in the eighties when it blowed all those trees down and made micheal fish looklike an idiot cos he said there wasnt going to be a storm haha

but was there one 50 years ago that was worse, and this was/is going to be as bad as that ;)

He actually said there wasn't going to be a hurricane, and there wasn't.
 
we just getting a nice thunderstorm right now in Cleveland area, absolutely ****ed it down now serious thunder and lightening flashes, im bricking it :P
 
The sun is out and shining brightly here, but the wind is picking up.

I'm not taking any chances.

I was camping in Wales with the Scouts when that hit. Our campsite got destroyed when the nearby river burst its banks (full sized trees floating through the middle of the campsite) so we got evacuated to a Church hall. Then another river burst its banks so the whole village got flooded (I remember swimming down the street to higher ground), so we were moved to a pub car park. Then the pub was in danger of being flooded out so we were moved to a village hall on top of a hill for a couple of days. The locals were really nice and brought us dry blankets, sleeping bags etc. :)

It was a pretty exciting Scout camp thats for sure! :cool:
