FPN to increase to £90 and include careless driving

And it was reported on the radio that middle lane hoggers would also get FPN under the new proposals.

I would fap for an entire month or until my willy dissolved if this became a reality.

please feel free to quote me for I would gladly forgo my manhood to rid the roads of these detestable muppets

Great, as if the police need any more wishy washy things which they can use and abuse as they see fit.

*not saying all will, but the contingent of ****** ones will.

Really easy way to get around this. Don't be a twit in your car.

How would that help in this situation?

Those of us with a bright white car and driving it properly up to 8krpm will have a much higher risk of being done by incompetent little nazi coppers.

Officer: 'I heard you speeding'.
Me: 'No, I was in 2nd gear at high rpm joining the motorway at less than 70mph'.
Officer: 'Don't care, Careless driving, £90 and 3 points'.
Me: ****ed.

This should apply to far lane hoggers too of course, or most will sit in the far lane and everyone else will end up getting done for undertaking. Effectively reversing the order of things.

I'd be happy for the government to allow me to shoot people in the face that hog the middle lane, I'd be bloody good at it, enjoy it immensely and would make the motorways a much nicer place to be.

true story

So long as they appoint me your deputy I'll vote for that.

£4million over 10 years is a drop in the Ocean, it almost certainly isn't a money-raising exercise

Nope but the expected VED changes will be. The government have realised just how popular their spiel re driving enviro friendly tractors has been, so popular in fact that they now need to recoup that lost revenue. :( I thought this was a green gesture but see how quickly it's turned into a red gesture to get more fifties from the motorist.

so a car undertakes a moron who wont move from the middle lane of a motorway

who gets the ticket?

Both :-)

The "undertaker" should overtake in the correct lane and the the middle lane hogger should travel whatever lane is clear that is nearest the hard shoulder.

How would that help in this situation?

There's no need to be at 7k when joining a motorway. Even an asthmatic 1.25 fiesta can get up to speed and join a motorway safely.

The trouble is, speeding and red light offences are fairly clear cut. You were either caught doing over the limit or you weren't. 'Careless driving' is all too subjective. If people decide to fight the ticket, which I dare say more people would in the absence of clear cut evidence, then it will still tie up the courts time. If they're easier for police to issue in the first place we could end up with more court time wasted in the end.

The "Undertaker" isnt committing any offence if is maintaining his speed and lane discipline and happens to pass someone on the left.

Its perfectly legal, and safe.

True but most undertakers I see pull over to the inside lane, accelerate, undertake several cars and then try and squeeze back into the outer lanes.

Just pull onto the motorway in front of a car at 40mph, they'll have to slam on their brakes or end up tailgating you. They'll get done for erratic driving? :p

Rubbish, I can't claim to have visited every motorway junction in the country but even with what I have seen I know for sure that an asthmatic fiesta isn't going to be safely reaching motorway speeds up a slip road on some of them without ragging the wheels off of it.
