£150 - £170 for a Graphics Card - Which one?

£190/£200 for a 7850 is a joke, I can't believe people are buying cards at the moment, so annoyed at AMD and Nvidia for screwing the market currently.

I picked up a 5850 for about £85 brand new from OCUK when Sapphire re-released this card a while back, had the disappointment of the 6850's which performs worse than my card and then the 7850 which isn't fast enough over a 5850 to warrant the ridiculous prices, when the hell are we going to get a decent mid-range card?

I agree 100%

I'm still using an OC'd XFX 4890 that I got from here a couple of years ago that still gives me 28-60fps in skyrim running at 1920x1080 4xAA and it cost me £100 brand new.

Feel like the % increase i'll get for my set up is pretty pointless and i'd only be doing it for DX11.

I tend to go for older gen high end over slightly more recent mid range cards as the price drops but the 6970's/7850's really don't seem to be dropping all that quick.

Don't really want to spend over £150.....

I feel like someone is gonna laugh at me for saying I still use a 4890 lol

This gens prices are a complete rip off, but the fact of the matter is, if you want the candy then pay for it.

The card to buy however is the 7850, which is the best bang for buck at the price the op is looking at.

Not really, it depends how much 'worth' you value your gaming experience to be.

The reason they keep raising prices is because people keep buying new gen on release when they don't really need to.

I agree, usually the drivers are more mature as well and this mitigates much loss in performance over new gen stuff. The 4890 was and is still a cracking card even though it's a few generations ago. It would be good for a casual gamer to have and any later gen cards would be a bonus.

is that a typo or are you suggesting the gtx660 will be £300+ ???

so I guess it's not a low-end card anymore? I was thinking it was this year's gtx460, but my 460 cost £150...

Was just saying that if nvidia was to release the gtx660 (A cut down version based on the GK104), they can`t afford to price it below £300+ and if they release a different SKU, it wont beat the HD78XX perf/watt

Don't get this post
It will have to be less than £300 as it will perform worse than the £300 670.
It doesn't have to beat the 7850 at perf/watt either, just has to be a similar performance and a similar price and it will sell pretty well.
