GAMERSWEAR - Clothing now at OcUK!

This isn't the real world, it is the internet and is therefore serious business.
But seriously, dropping down the immutable barriers for a second, why don't you think it is worth applying the same discretion as movie and TV certificating authorities do, or the same discretion applied in schools when it comes to literature, or the same discretion applied to displaying art in public places (containing nudity)?

There's a difference between angry taxi man and stephen fry swearing once in a 10 minute clip.

There's a difference between XXX porn and a Picasso nude.

There's a difference between some troll f'ing and blinding on a forum and a swear word in Of Mice and Men.

What's there to gain from pretending we don't have the ability to be discrete or that these differences don't exist? Imo we're only losing (because good content gets removed).

I don't think Gilly would take kindly to that

maybe so, my point was, this was supposed to be a thread about their new line of clothing, which has turned into a debate as to whether swearing should be tolerated. so if he wouldn't take kindly to a new thread, why would he be any happier with posts in this thread taking away from its intention, to sell clothes?

...and in fact I've already taken up the offer to cease the discussion anyway.

If anyone has anything else to say on that matter you have my email address.

Anybody who buys this stuff should have their details added to a register of some description.

I wouldn't wear a shirt professing my crippling addiction to midget porn. I'd apply the same logic to these products, for the same reasons.

I feel like weighing in again..

Good that you took the t-shirt down, relatively quickly.

As for the swearing on the forums, I actually like, as others have said, the lack of swearing. Even just a sentence of *** ***** *** *** etc... is better than whatever equivalent words. Just because instead of seeing whatever swear word someone has used I can either a) realise they are not eloquent enough to express themselves properly, or b) fill in the stars with whatever I want if I want to be amused...

As for what some people have called harsh rules, I actually find they're not too bad, and understand where they're coming from.

A few things come to mind. First is that you tend to find that if you refer to something correctly, it's not massively opposed. As in, if there is an viral video that people are posting about, but which has a lot of swearing, then if the OP tends to say, 'this is the news story around video X', 'Video X has lots of swearing, so I haven't linked directly to it', then it's accepted. Now 9/10 people that read the topic may well go and find that video. But they've done it off of their own accord. Then it tends to be accepted.

As for actually swearing on the forums, a line has to be drawn somewhere, and that makes sense. Fair enough.

Thankfully as OcUK have removed the **** the sun t-shirt, there's not the confusion over that... But generally speaking, apart from that (which has now been resolved), I think the rules work relatively well. Yes sometimes I think they're a bit ridiculous, but yes you have to draw a line somewhere, and if you say 'no swearing' then it makes sense..

Not that I'm going to buy one, but you might want to put on them what size they are. European sizes are different to UK sizes, and US sizes are different again. You need to put the chest measurements on them.

The fact that this thread has become a discussion about swearing when it started as with an advertisement for the Gamerswear range is gently hilarious.

You are not alone. The lack of swearing makes this a pleasant place to visit. It certainly keeps the riff-raff at bay and makes them think twice about what to say next. It might even make them keep their mouths shut.

Whilst I am not bothered about the lack of swearing it does seem odd that the c word that ends in p is now censored as it has the effect of making those of us who use it look like we are swearing :p

Yeah what a load of ****.

If that T-shirt isn't being sold anymore and you have hundreds of them arriving, can I have a free one? :p

I love the idea of getting some gaming clothing lines. The issue with the items is a lack of imagination, looking at some of them all I get is this image in my head...

Something that is less stereotypical and a desperate attempt at pop culture would be awesome.

Just to be clear, I would genuinely like to see some clothing lines at ocuk.
