*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

I don't believe world anchors will work in the nether? I can certainly give it a go. Not sure that will save it from a server restart though? Happy to test this all.

Ah, true. Even if they do and/or I find a fix I imagine the server restart will cause issues. I'll look into it.

Did I hear you say EQUIVALENT EXCHANGE???

We removed this due to balance issues and a dupe bug. It may come back but it's on a low priority.

I'll give it a bash, putting an anchor in the nether, I don't think it'll keep that chunk loaded unless people are in the nether though? Not sure how it works between different worlds. Will just have to find out :D

The balance issues aren't important though....everyone can use EE so what does it matter? We're on a mod server...it's always going to be unbalanced. I hope the bug gets fixed!

It matters if one mod renders half of the items/processes in another mod pointless. It's not just about it being fair for all players - it's about making the most of what we have.

Are you referring to processing ores etc? Personally I find it enjoyable...could you just restrict certain parts of it? It would be great for stuff like the shedload of cobble every quarry creates.

You are right unless some1 is in the nether the chunks will always be unloaded and nothing a world anchor can do about this. The forge team are looking in to this but it is not a bug in the world anchor it is the way minecraft iteself is coded and even works like this in sp. As for world anchors on smp they are very very buggy and seem to decided to work when they want lol.

It is a good idea to create a master switch to turn off all yer engines if you are leaving the area especially combustion ones.

Yeah, I have a master switch to turn it all off, so that's not an issue. Would just be nice for things like electric furnaces ect. to work without me being there.

In regards to the graphical glitches:

They don't entirely just seem graphical. It's a bit of a pain, since if you break them it seems to only return machine blocks? That is pretty nasty if it happens everytime. It's definitely annoying for me, since I live in the nether, and not many people venture down to there so far. So every time the world is unloaded, all my machines turn to the machine block skin.

Pretty horrible when you try to cable up something after it happens, since it just ends up going horribly wrong. I would say it might be worth looking into it personally.

You can break machines with a bronze wrench without destroying them, can't you?

I'm done with the server for a bit. There's been constant lag spikes since the server came up and this is taking the ****.

It wouldn't be so bad on a vanilla server but with engines, pumps, nuclear reactors etc, stuff's actually being destroyed quite commonly because it's screwing up and it's not all easy stuff to re-make.

After a week or two I'll be back to see if the problems are fixed.

Edit: Also are the admin still bound to the same rules about having to produce everything they build by normal means and not being allowed to spawn things in for personal use? Just curious.

Yes it should be nuked then we can group together and fix the damage as it is unplayable no matter where you are on the map :(

I don't agree with that.

I'm quite far out on the map and the game itself runs fine. It's only when I visited the area myself did framerates plummet. I haven't tried using the machines, but i'd imagine thats all which would run slower. Still playable, though I agree something needs to be done..

If the machines run slower then that can cause them to break/explode, if properly build systems can break then I don't think that's playable.

I've already lost several engines and pumps not to mention my first quarry (11 dims wasted) because "infinite" water supplies have dried up in lag spikes and engines have overheated (they refil faster than the pump can pump them out, if the pump takes several blocks of water at once though, they can't refil in time).

The lag tonight is due to a bug with Ostrichs caused and Gonz's build, as there is no admin commands to kill said ostriches without damage a players build then there isn't all that much we can do. I spent 2 hours or so tonight trying to sort it with some help from players and Saf but we couldn't find an efficient way of removing them without damaging the player builds or beating the respawn.

FrenchTart should be able to sort that out fairly easily but he is out for the evening.

Another cause of lag at the moment is players abusive use of mining lasers, the scatter feature of the mining laser causes massive damage to surrounds areas and players are destroying 3000 blocks without clearing up the mess. This will probably be something that will be removed from players if this becomes a persistent issue.

The final cause of lag spikes is myself copy and paste bits of land for the new spawn, I haven't done any of that tonight and I'm trying to find a better way of doing it without the lag spikes being so sharp. Don't worry guys I hate the lag spikes a wholeeeeeeeeee lot more than you I can tell you that now :p

As for the admin rules I'm pretty sure they still stand, obviously the admin volcano and spawn aren't exactly an admins build. Spawn is for you guys and the admin volcano was actually a test bed for some of our tools for spawn while we waited for player feedback and admin decisions on the spawn design and a bit of fun where the admins can have a home :D

The server should be running properly as soon as FrenchTart gets back home or maybe tomorrow morning as its getting rather late now and I'm not quite sure what condition FT will be in when he gets back :p
