Hey,

As title really, I am suddenly without a car, I need to do a 50 mile drive to work each day and then back. This is only for a couple of months though when I will be moving to work and not require a car at all.

My prime objective is cheapness, reliability and then being able to get rid once I'm done.

I seen yesterday at local dealers (I'm in Plymouth) a Tigra, Nissan Primera and Seat Leon that all looked okay. The Leon being most expensive at £1500.

The bloody thing leaks from every orifice. I thought I'd cured the latest water ingress by re-sealing the membrane behind the door cards, but alas no.

You can accuse the Leon and Primera of being boring to look at too. If your objectives are cheapness and reliability, why dismiss a car that fits the description based on looks?

I'm not discounting it, I will look into it seriously. But looks do play a part for me as well, add them to the original post :D yeah I didn't like the Primera for the same reason, looked a bit grown-up/family... I do like the look of the Leon though, that kind of size/shape is to my tastes.

this will be everyone's choice in motor forum

Dunno why, my 2.0 mondy only returns 30mpg tops on my commute (ok it's all town and back roads)
For 2 months I'd put up with some cheap pos hatchback that'll do 45mpg and pocket the fuel savings.

Suppose they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Mondeo. It won't be great on fuel but they are comfortable motorway cruisers. I used to do ~80 miles a day 5 days a week in a 1.8 petrol and it would go through a tank and a half. This was sitting around 100 most of the way

The TDCi model is much better on fuel but I wouldn't want to spend less than 2K on one due to potential moneypits, if you do get one go for the 6 speed gearbox.
