Very fast discolouring tubes....

I'm going for black tubing and deionzed when I next redo my loop. Plasticiser can leach as much as it likes then, not that I'd personally ever user coloured fluid anyway.

I am seeing warnings on some sites about the clearflex being only compatible with barbs, can you shed any light on it as I use compressions?

Depends what size you going for. I have it running with barbs on my own PC.

@OptimaLnrg "OMG" a full bottle of blue. There is enough in a full 10ml bottle of blue to dye a Bath!!! I realy realy suggest you empty the loop out and start again. Do not be surprised if every thing in you loop is badly stained. And for gods sake dont spill any on the carpet when emptying ...

Give it one hell of a flush afterwards as suggested as in Add it to you mains tap and flush for at least 1/2 Hour. then rinse with DI water when finished.

Does anyone know why ClearFlex is only suitable for barb fittings?

I ordered a few meter's of it yesterday as it came recommended.

The only reason why it might not be compatible with compressions is if it comes in an odd size. If you have ordered 1/2"ID/3/4"OD or whatever size to match the compo fittings you have then it will fit, nothing else matters. I've looked at their website and there is nothing magic about this tube, it is pvc like all the rest.

Edit: They also do non pvc tubing with no plasticisers, Ether-PUR FLEX 84, this is probably the best stuff for water cooling, but again, no earthly reason why this should not be compatible with compo fittings assuming the correct size is bought. The only tubing which is not compatible with compression is reinforced wall tubing, i.e. that with the kriss kross pattern within tthe wall of the tube, but who uses that for water cooling? The other possible reason would be that it is so flexible it would buckle when tightening the fittings. I had some tube that was like this a while back, fittings would go on ok with care but the tubing was so flimsy the bend radius was abysmal. Ditched the lot.

Just check your blocks every 6 months or so as the plasticiser can build up in areas, particularly if you have areas of low flow. Eventually it can/will block your loop partially and reduce the flow and the effectiveness of your loop down to almost zero.

Does norprene tubing have any issues? I used it 4 years without any maintenance.

Not aware of that particular brand, as mlwood says it seems to be a recent issue, perhaps with the source factory where these companies are buying their tubing from.

Discolouration and jet plate blocking are the prime indicators. Also it does depend on your usage, extreme temps with 24/7 long usage can cause it to accelerate in my experience.

I've had horrible staining inside 2 months on Tygon tubing but my XSPC tubing has been superb.

Biggest problem I had with tygon tubing was dust sticking to the outside though making it look brown.

currently using fluid XP RED instead of mayhems too but I don't think that makes a massive difference.

Got my clearflex tubing this morning only to find that it has blue writing all the way down the side :( WHY WHY WHY would they do this??

True. But its not for me. £12 wasted. Need another plan now.

Seems you've been having loads of misfortunes looking at your log :( Is there any other clear tubing options without leeching problems? Think I said this before but you could always go for some white tubing (I have the masterkleer and definitely free of writing)

I suppose that is looking to be my only option at this stage. Might as well give it a shot i suppose.
