Here we go again....

Anyone using a gaming card for Cad or should I go for quadro/firegl ?

Ideally I would like the best of both worlds - gaming and CAD but am uncertain that it would work

I know the feeling, for the price of a GTX 680, you are getting old tech like an 8800gtx with superior CAD drivers and guaranteed compatibility.

I usually spec the PC's for our drawing office and with the last few have gone with the Quadro's.

Im using a Gaming card (GTX 460) to do CAD work on my home PC. It is perfect. CUDA is a great addition.

Also used quadro card on my placement only a FX1700 (i think). Perfromed OKay, but not as good as my 460. Though ther 460 is a lot better anyway.

Im guesssing the higher end Quadros are better but a lot more expensive than gaming cards. They cannot really be used for gaming either, as they don't have the Power.

If going for a gaming card, CUDA support and CUDA cores are vital.
