Lord Hunt, the chairman of the PCC and a former Tory cabinet minister along with the Torygraph executive Conrad Black who was convicted and jailed in the USA for fraud and obstruction of justice are expected to present proposals for press reform aimed at sidestepping any fresh legislation that might emanate from the Leveson inquiry.
The proposal is expected to be welcomed by British Prime Minister David Cameron, Richard Desmond, one-time publisher of specialist titles such as Reader's Wives and Asian Babes and the Daily Wail editor Paul Dacre but not by Clegg or Ed Miliband, who both seem to favour legislation.
Cameron continues to impress with the company he keeps . . . I wonder whether they all get together with the Brooks and the Murdochs for country suppers?
