Morning All

I am in the middle of a Windows Home Server build and have just installed the OS (Windows Home Server 2011) then it was time to install the Anti-Virus solution. Now as my server will not be used in the same way as my PC it will still be connected to the internet so I wanted a simple AV solution for peace of mind. So went on line to find a suitable (free) solution and it looks like there isn’t one  I was thinking of Microsoft Security Essentials but that doesn’t work on Servers. So I just wondered what the recommended solution would be?

Cheers

Peter

Avast is ok, pretty sure there is server build that is free, or their free version will install onto a server regardless

I was thinking of Microsoft Security Essentials but that doesn’t work on Servers.
I don't have an installation of Home Server to test it on, but it's installed and running on my Server 2008 R2 system, which is what WHS2011 is based on.

Ah, must admit, I haven't yet got my hands on a WHS install, but I am putting one onto my VMWare server for testing purposes :-)

You could try Comodo. It's quite a powerful anti virus tool.

I only done a quick Google but some people said Comodo Internet Security works in WHS so it might be worth a try.

Am sure I have Windows Security Essentials on my WHS 2011 install, will check tonight when I mess around with the settings....

edit: I don't have any installed, oops my mistake.... will install Avast as described....

Tried Windows Security Essentials and no joy. It told me it would not work on this OS as it was not supported by this program (poo)
