Swedes are rude and obnoxious?

Was thinking of going over there, who knows maybe even move there, so after a bit of research i came across quite a few forums/blogs that make the swedes out to be incredibly rude/obnoxious(shoving each other in the street, spitting on each other, staring people out and plenty more) and their work place as a back stabbing/childish, downright ridiculous environment with no respect and childish tantrums.

Very surprised as i guess you built up a stereotype and this wouldn't be it. But even the swedes on these forums are agreeing. Anyone lived there?
 
The few swedish people I know certainly aren't rude and obnoxious. Never visited Sweden though so couldn't say it was like that in general, but the two other Scandanavian countries I have been in have been incredibly welcoming.
 
The Swedes I work with and know are all really nice...although maybe the girls I know can be a bit sensitive sometimes and the younger lads (17+) are just like young lads over here - they think a lot of themselves when they really shouldn't :P

But they all tend to be very cleaver and really fun people to be around
 
My experience of Swedes is they are very nice people. My gf's brother spends as much time as he can there, so it can't be that bad :p

They are very intolerant of idiots though. So the typical "Brit's abroad" types will be shunned by them.
 
Deal with swedes through work and after speaking to a lot of people in the trade the impression I get:

Very nice people
Very polite
Very professional
Stylish (like to dress well)

So my views are almost the total opposite!

There is also a bloke who works near us who used to work in Sweden, had to come back to UK for personal reasons and can't wait to get back over there.

Are you sure the forums you read are not describing the UK? Seems to me that is a typical scally in the UK...

Was in Stockholm this weekend, felt completely welcomed at all times. Swedes do dress incredibly well, their english is great, and some of the women are just... wow.

This whole shoving and spitting thing, didnt see anything like it.
 
I have been living and working in Sweden for the past 4 years and i would say they are the complete opposite than as described in the OP.

They are very friendly and polite, very well educated and generally awesome people, they do tend to spit a lot but on the floor, not on eachother!

Sweden is an excellent place albeit an expensive one!
