BIOS and actual idle / load volts

I now have my i5 760@4ghz fully Prime and IBT stable

BIOS is set at 1.300v

This shows at 1.280V idle in CPUZ and temps ~40c
Load shows 1.248V load in CPUZ and temps ~70c
IBT Maximum stress test passes but gets to a rather toasty 83c


In bios I have set Load line calibration to level 1


How much do you BIOS volts differ to your actual idle and load volts?
 
LLC help to stabilise the Vdrop, as far as i know. Level 6 (considering yours goes upto level 10 like mine does) should keep the Vcore consistent through the stress test.

83C is RATHER toasty, may want to stop there.
 
The difference is normal and known as vdroop. My i5 750@4ghz (LLC lvl 1) is 1.3625v in bios, 1.344v idle and 1.312v load. I'm surprised you can remain 100% stable at such low voltage tbh.

It was failing blend so I pushed it up to 1.4 with max LLC (level 3) it hit 95c in IBT but had no problem. I realised after that ram was set to auto config and my 11-11-11-27 ram was autoing to something like 3-9-9-9-15 :confused:
 
vdrop - drop from set in bios to idle
vdroop - drop from idle to load

vdroop is expected as per Intels specification and is there to prevent voltage spikes causing damage. LLC goes against this specification. No real issue can be seen by people using LLC as far as I know (certainly haven't seen any threads titled "LLC killed my CPU!!!")
