Is there anywhere you can rent a car for a track day that doesn't cost £500+?

200 quid for the day would be nice :D

buy something cheap and fun for £250-300

rag the pants off it all day, weigh it in at the scrap yard on the way home for a £100 return. :)

for the whole thing? Some track days cost that much on there own!

To take a car to a trackday is normally £150+.

Taking into account most track cars you rent have decent tyres/brake etc, I think the OP is in dreamland if he wants to rent a caterhm 7 or what not for £200 for a day. :)

Just for the car and getting it to the track. You cover any track day fees yourself.

Any track sorted car would do it, hot hatch, etc.

I'm definitely dreaming.

You're either a mechanic or extremely lucky. :D

Dads an ex mechanical but I'd put it down to luck. I think it I remember to talking to you at the Eurospec RR day early last year. I was in the blue mk2 that I ran for a laugh
You've done 15k miles on track?

I wish, I was just showing that cheap cars down always blow up a couple of miles down the road.

If you want a cheap track car though, mk3 golf gtis are cheap as chips these days. If you can trailer a car to a track, buy one strip it and fit some half decent springs shocks and brake pads?

Track days are £200ish in your own car. No way you could hire one for that.

This.

And there's the deposit too - be prepared to hand over your credit card with a mandate for £2,000+ to be taken if you have an accident.

Presumably this includes if someone else crashes into you.

That 10 quid style insurance that Silverstone use might be applicable here?

The stoppage and mess ****es off everybody else who's there to take it a bit more seriously and have prepared their cars properly

I was more referring to it blowing up on the way there. Chances are anything you buy for that price is going to withstand a days abuse. I'd say worse case a scenario would be cooking brakes or tyres going off and you ending up in the grass or gravel trap.
