Jimmy Carr overcome by grief

This. I am aware of a few footballers who are paid a certain wage which they then pay tax on in this country but the majority of their wage is paid to an offshore company which owns the "image" rights of the footballer and hence tax is avoided.

Crazy thing is there are no image rights laws anywhere in the world as yet, Guernsey will be the first to have actual laws to protect sportsmen/women, artists etc.

Locally I know of at least two top 5 premiership teams' starting 11 with these sorts of schemes (not where I work). A former employer ran the entire pension/offshore scheme for one large premiership team from the capital.... extremely interesting stuff.

main issue is that David Cameron publicly singles him out

To be fair to Dave, in the clip I saw on the TV it didn't show what the question the interviewer had asked him was. It could well have been "In relation to today's article in The Times, what is your comment on what Jimmy Carr has been doing?"...

what happened to the lovely old rich people back in history that used their wealth to help society. philanthropy used to be something the super rich did.

i agree i wouldnt pay more tax than required (without schemes etc, im talking standard income tax) but i would look up creating a foundation to help people. people with learning and physical disabilities etc

They still do it, for tax relief purposes.

Quite like Jimmy Carr's attempt to pass the blame on to his financial adviser.

I met with a financial advisor and he said to me 'Do you want to pay less tax? It's totally legal'. I said 'Yes'."

Sneaky FA took advantage of penny pinching comedian.

Also like the use of the term "Tax Avoidance" which is illegal. This is an example of "Tax Mitigation" and perfectly legal.

Cameron should keep his distance to be fair. Conseratives are hardly strangers to morally questionable ideas - particularly in the financial world.
