just lookin for some info on cigars thats all =)

Do a search on "cigars" in GD. There's a handful of threads over the past few months of people asking the exact same.

The shop I buy from is cgarsltd.co.uk. Love it, and the bloke who runs the site is incredibly knowledgable.

If you don't already smoke then i think it's a pretty dumb thing to start up don't you think?

That's how habits are born. I really enjoyed smoking my first joint. I was hooked for 5 years after.

Every thread there's a post like this. If the guy wants to smoke cigars, just let him do it. If you don't agree, then don't bloody click on a thread named "Cigar Smoking". Simple.

I don't smoke cigarettes, but I smoke cigars. It's a totally different principle.

Good starter cigar would be a Monte Cristo IV. Goes at about ten quid a pop give or take a pound or two depending on the exchange rate. I enjoy a couple every year. Birthday, Christmas and special occasions. Tastes good, good burn and not too strong.

Total different thing, smoking a cigar is nothing like smoking a joint or cigarette. If anyone smokes them the same way, there doing it wrong.

You'll need to explain that one.
My Dads been a cigar/cigarette smoker for decades and he just says they are different tastes.
He's also a pipe smoker and again it's a different taste.
All 3 involve lighting a toxic substance and taking it into your lungs so what is the different 'principle' involved?

Tell him he is doing it wrong, you dont inhale a cigar, you draw into your mouth, enjoy the taste and let it go.

"You should not inhale the cigar smoke. The high alkalinity and poor amount of nicotine will make you cough and besides, you can enjoy a cigar’s flavor and body without inhaling."

Are you serious, you just said.

"All 3 involve lighting a toxic substance and taking it into your lungs so what is the different 'principle' involved? "

Cigar smoke doesnt go in your lungs. Thats the different principle.

Cigar smoke doesnt go in your lungs. Thats the different principle.

But a lot of people do and you can't deny it.
So the different principle is that you're not supposed to.
You're supposed to drink Newcastle Brown with a half pint glass but I've never seen it done.

BTW, I'm not knocking smokers because I'm too old to do it now, I just want to hear your views.

I'm not a smoker, but the way I understood it was is that a good cigar is like a expensive bottle of whiskey. Yes you can drink it to get smashed but it's better to savour it and enjoy it, just like with a good cigar you could inhale it but that is sort of missing the point. A quick wikipedia lookup has a cited link that shows that all the risks of dying from smoking cigars but not inhaling is statistically insignificant compared to non-smokers, although there is still the risk of mouth cancers and such.

Even the risk of mouth cancer is not really comparable because people who smoke cigars don't smoke multiple every day like cig smokers.

A cigar a month is probably less detrimental to ones health than living in a large city.

I did say probably, I would think that the levels of air pollution in a major city causes more overall damage than smoking a cigar properly does.

I said probably, and that I think, I never said it as fact so don't need to present jack. :p

Much in the same way that I think that drinking a beer once a month is less detrimental than drinking a can of coke every day.
