I guess all of that 'Chelsea on the brink of signing Hulk' stuff was wrong then?

Portuguese champions Porto insist that, despite claims to the contrary, they are yet to receive any bids for highly-rated striker Hulk.

The Samba star has been heavily linked with a move away from Estadio do Dragao for some time, but a hefty price tag has left interested parties reluctant to dig deep.

It is, however, being suggested that Chelsea and Paris St Germain could be about to make their move.

Both clubs are bankrolled by billionaire owners and have the funds to make a deal happen.

Hulk has expressed a desire to link up with UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea, suggesting they are in pole position to secure his signature.

Kagawa completes United move

Manchester United announced earlier this month that an agreement with Borussia Dortmund had been reached for the transfer of Shinji Kagawa for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old Japanese midfielder has now passed a medical, obtained a UK work permit and has agreed a four-year contract commencing 1 July 2012.

Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted to be bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford. He told ManUtd.com: “Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal.

"I am delighted he has chosen to come to United. I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United’s style of play. We are all looking forward to working with him."

Kagawa himself can't wait to get started as a Red. He told us: “This is a challenge I am really looking forward to. The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is such a massive club.

"This is a really exciting time for me and I can’t wait to meet the team and start playing."

Hard to say really. I hope Fergie is looking for a CM.
Yeah, that'd be nice. Even if Fletcher comes back I don't think he's quite what we need from a CM.

I don't think we will buy a CM.

I suspect there might be one more signing but I imagine it'll be a youngster and not anyone 'established'.
There's that young Mexican striker we've apparently got an option on isn't there? With Owen released and Berbatov most likely off that leave us with Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez as our known strikers. Macheda isn't ready for a spot yet surely? Will Keane's injured. Who else is there at Utd in terms of a young player who could be the 4th striker in the squad for experience?

Say it ain't so, we can't go into next season even weaker than the last one. That leaves us absolutely ****** if Rooney gets injured. No strength in depth at all and still with possibly the worst central midfield of the top teams.

Strength and depth?!?! As a saints fan we're still worried by the prospect of getting thrashed at home by a half strength united.

The success of a team is not just the transfers made, but also the quality of the team building and the tactics. I think fuguson has done a pretty decent job of those regardless of who is signed this summer

We won't sign anyone else. Cleverley will get more involvement, Welbeck will start every game, Vidic will be back, Rafael/Smalling will be a permanent RB. Nani will shine. We'll win the league. Quote me.

With all due respect why would Baines want to go to Man Utd and sit on the bench. Evra is a machine. I can't think of a game he hasn't been involved in or him being kept out of by injury.

You really think that if RvP came City he would be our best player?

Talk about deluded.

wat? You said he wouldn't add to your team, that's clearly wrong.

He was the best player in the league with ease last season. Don't know why that's being disputed as it was obvious to everybody

I personally don't think evra had the best of seasons , last season a few games he seemed to go awol out of his position and leave us short.I couple seasons ago i would say he was in the top 3 lb in the world cannot say that after last season.I think last season Rio took allot of flak for mistakes that i think were caused by evra

spot on

Utd desperately need a RB option even without the possibility of Evra getting injured, Fryers and Fabio played around ~10 games between them last season maybe a few more - Evra cant possibly play even more games if Utd expect to progress further in CC/FA Cup (even more CL) games.

As Nick Powell is being lickened to Jones by SAF, he will surely play 20 + games in midfield (if he is good enough he is old enough). Surely that covers a lot of bit part players from last season - although admittedly that relies on Cleverely having a much stronger season also.

As a whole apart from RB, I dont see the squad being any weaker, and potentially stronger (depending on how Powell and Cleverely develope)

I still think we will sign baines

I dont know, I hope not for the price mentioned (£20m~ for a 26/27 yo far too steep imo for someone who is not top class, even though he is good on his day)
