Are watches redundant?

I don't wear a watch because I hate it getting caught on things, and having to take it off for sexytime, showers and swimming.

I never take my watch off, my phone on the other hand is useless in the shower, swimming pool or when going for a run. And my phone is usually turned off and charging at night.

You catch your watch more often than you do the cable on your headphones? :p

It's funny how different peoples experiences can be with the same items, I only stopped wearing my watch for swimming when it stopped being waterproof (battery has been replaced too many times and the seals have perished at some point).

No watches are not and unlikely to be redundant in the foreseeable future, they are just another choice in life.
don't like or need one? then don't wear one, however, there are still countless situations where watches are more appropriate/desirable/practical than a phone.

I wear a watch, I would feel like something was missing without it, i have grown up wearing one which is probably why.
Also for my job there are many situations where pulling out a phone is neither appropriate or practical, and a good tough watch is a necessity.

Amusingly I used to wear one of these; the only reason I don't now is because it doesn't work that well with the iPhone.

I wouldn't say it's redundant at all though, especially if you're walking along with your headphones under your shirt -- I find it looks a bit silly taking my phone out in those situations. I probably just need longer headphone cables though. :)
