Going in October but don't know where. I'm looking for beach type place but I want to see local culture and things too. We're not the type to sit on sun loungers all day, although that would be nice :)

So far after doing some google searches the best place to go in October is Mauritius for the weather. I want it to be romantic but alos lots of things to do too.

Thanks I'll look into it. I'm looking for package holidays which includes some visits to local attractions organised by the hotel/holiday booker.

our honeymoon... common this forum cant be sinking to where people cant even think where they want to spend a week with the love of their life!?

Go to where you think you will have a enjoyable and rememberable time

How would he be able to know where to go if no one ever told him what places were like? Lay off the guy he's just asking opinions from people that have been to places, perfectly valid.

indeed that's what I'm doing. My friends have been Malaysia on their Honeymoons but they went in June/Junly. Apparently it's rain season in October hence I'm looking at Mauritius or somewhere else.

I gave constructive criticism too :p
At least I gave some info ^^

Ok having looked at Mauritius it does look amazing, but I want more from my £3.5k It seems like I'd be spending all that money just to stay on one place, I want to get some travelling done too. Maybe Mauritius isn't the place for me??

I've been to Mauritius twice and also seen the Maledives but given the choice my favourite destination in the Indian Ocean remains the Seychelles with either the Island Praslin or La Digue.
Our honeymoon was a week on Praslin and and a week on Mahe.

Ayia Napa/Cyprus. Hear me out! :D
We got married on Nissi beach back in 2006, there are plenty of beaches to lounge out on should you decide one day to do just that, there are the boat rides along the coast to Famagusta including stops to swim into the caves etc and also Cape Greco.
Mopeds/cars are fairly cheap to hire to go exploring. In Ayia Napa alone there are hundreds of bars, clubs and restaurants catering for all ages and nationalities. If you have kids, going out for a stroll around the monastry area at 11pm is not uncommon as it is a fairly safe place to be. Between the missus and myself, we have been half a dozen times.

I went to Mauritius for my Honeymoon.
If your looking for more culture I'd suggest Cuba.

Where in Mauritius did you go? turquoiseholidays.co.uk seem to have some good packages specifically for Honeymoons and for my budget too. I've requested a brochure and a call back.

Thanks NXZT that's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for :)

np...just in case you will decide for this destination send me a PM and I can give you some additional tips if you are interested.

The two Hotels we stayed in for our honeymoon:

L'Archipel - Praslin
http://www.larchipel.com/

Plantation Club - Mahe
looking for the website i found out that this Hotel is now being demolished which I'm surprised about

You could always try Greece and the islands around it if either of you are interested in that sort of history. I'd love to travel between the archeological ruins in that area. I did it once with my family in the south of France travelling between various Roman towns and it was very interesting to see how they all used to connect together. It's also a perfect place for some lazing on the beach as well :)

I have just got back from my honeymoon on the Big Island in Hawaii. We didn't stay in a resort - rented a bungalow and just did our own thing.

There is so much to do and see there - 10 nights just wasn't enough. The only bind was the travel out there and the cost of flights.

The West side of the island has all the good beaches and the weather there is pretty constant all year round!
