***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

That's 4.5hours screen on time? The screen on bar doesn't look like 4.5hours though! Also WiFi on is always going to result in good battery life.

I popped out a few times where I wouldn't have been connected to wifi (does the solid bar just show that wifi is enabled but maybe not connected?) but didn't use the phone much in that time.

My previous Desire HD would have lasted about 16 hours of similar usage.

I just got my S3 with tmobile a few days ago and i cant see the software update button in the "about phone" section is the right place to find the update button or am i missing somthing?

Hmm seems it does yeah, if wifi is on but not disabled, even if not connected, the battery bar shows it as a solid bar.

if i do an update, would that screw up my default factory settings and all those? i mean i don't have any trouble or see any bugs and if i leave it without doing the update, would that do any harm to the original OS?

Hello

Not sure if it's best here or in the android app section but anyway.

I've been fiddling around with apps to be abble to sync my music on my phone to my htpc over wifI but also with a wifI remote so I can control the music from my phone.

I don't have any preference on which phone app or app for the htpc(win7)

The best to date is.I have winamp on the pc and winamp on the phone, these snyc together so any updates on the computer then get copied to the phone and vice versa.

I'm then using ampwifi app to remote control winamp on the htpc.

It's working ok but winamp is a bit of a nightmare and it was a lot of hassle setting up, I'm not sure.how it will get on long term, maybe there sure easier options?

The htpc can stay on, so what I'm after is...

When I get in the two will sync so I get any songs that I've put on my phone that day will be updated to the htpc

Then have a remote from my phone to browse/play htpc music

I do have an xbox, would this be a better way?

Cheers

If in doubt, install Samsung Kies.

Software updates can be done through usb and Kies.

yes my one is like that but without the software update ??? wtf ok i ll have a looke at kies see if that does anything, are you with Tmobile?

ok kool i ll have to find out how to do that or i could pop to tmob shop and get a new one as i havent had it for 7 days yet!!

anyone else out there with S3, who has contract from tmobile?

Mine is direct from t-mobile. Mine came fully unlocked and has the update button however I have a feeling it only came like this as it was a Pebble Blue S3 and they rushed the initial batch out to the preorder people quickly due to the delay. Due to this they didn't put on the network lock or provider customisation.

I suspect the new phones have the branding and stuff added...

I got a pebble blue from T-Mobile last week. I flashed the stock rom using odin and then used Kies to do the update. I have no T-Mobile branding on it. I have not checked if it is unlocked. Can I do this without a SIM from another carrier?
