i asked in another threasd about possible sli choices but before that i was looking at 680 cards with non reference boards.

any one tell me why is it impossible to find the following?

EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC Signature+ w/Backplate
02G-P4-2685-KR

been waiting for the stock to rebuild itself after the buying sellout craze in march april and so started looking over the past couple of weeks checking everywhere and it cant be found..

i only waited so it was more freely available but this doesnt seem the case :(

is the 680 at the end of the line with only the ftw/classified coming from evga? as most of its stocks seems to be non existant .

even the 2GB FTW (02G-P4-3686-KR) models are no where to be seen only the the 670 variants?

No competitor hinting!

dont know what to do its just crazy

last thread decided sli EVGA 670 FTW or ASUS 670 DCU2 TOP now its problem has been fixed

now i see MSI 680 lightning AND MSI 670 power edition

all i want is a set of top spec cards in sli with good temps and the possability of light overclocking to around 1150 (even with boost) at a future date so optional. im not a heavy overclocker looking for 1300 clocks but i dont want slowes cards out of the list.

game single screen 2560x

funds £950 saved from last year...want around 2 year life from it give me time to save up again.

:D need mental help now having a breakdown moment :p

670 FTW SLI. reasons below

1. exhaust cards are better for SLI, I've seen a thread where direct cu II in sli reached 90+ degrees.

2. sli 670 is much faster than a 680 signature and much better value than a 690.

3. evga's warranty service is unbeatable

Hi Mate,
I was in the same place as you "should I get 2x670, 2x680 or 1x690"......
After much reading I decided on 2x670. Looking at the benchmarks the 670 and 680 only had 4-8fps difference in performance in all the latest games.
Check this out:
http://hardocp.com/article/2012/06/04/galaxy_geforce_gtx_670_gc_video_card_review/9

90% of the 670s will OC to 680 speeds and beyond.
2x670 will give you great performance at 2560x1600.
My single 670 gives me 60fps in Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings (without AA) most of the time. I bought myself another 670 today so I could ran all my games at max details at 2560x1600 with room to breath.
I decided on Palit Jetstream 670. I have heard people have had lots of problems with the EVGA 670 and the ASUS DCU2 TOP. I originally decided on the Gigabyte Windforce but the one I bought was faulty so that put it off.
The Palit 670 has been in my machine since Friday and I have been running tests on it all weekend and so far it has been solid, fast and stable (touches wood).
For £700 you can get 2x670 compared to £880 for 2x680 or £899 for the 690, if you can find one in stock.
The only thing I will add is that the 670 cards, especially the factory Overclocked variety seem to be not as reliable as the 680 cards.

thats helpful m8 thanks

the mention of problematic cards i have read too but from what i can see not theasus top issue is fixed with new bios update and the evga sc was resolved too but now they have the FTW everyone is telling me to buy ;)

i can tell you i can get the 690 for under 830 and 3x 670 ftw for around 950 so i dont know now as i can see the 690 overclocking to match the 2 FTW 670s? or at least i heard the 690 overclocks slightly?

but if i get 2 ftw (£650) i suppose i can get a 3rd after if tested these out for temps...shame they dont have the 680 vapour chambers :(

2 x any 670 sli as if 1 card goes down you still have another to get you by,
at your res 3 x any card would be a massive overkill IMHO

mesage deleted read comment

ignore newegg reviews, no matter what product you check there will always be complaints (usually because of a buyers mistake) and most of the time people only bother to leave a review when it is negative. the cards you get will almost certainly be fine, if not that's what DSR + warranties are for.

i understand what you saying but just been reading loats of bad stories on 670 chip about degradation and large amount of faulty chips :( i know its a binned 680 with a disabled mx cpu or whetever it is but im shocked at how many are dodgy...

maybe wait for the mars 3 thats supposedly out end of the month i dont know or maybe wait for 7** series

690 i have read can get warm too? in the mid 80's

hopefully my case is ventilated enough :D

currently my setup is coping with triple sli 285 and they get around the mid 70's early 80's at load but they are really showing their age and 2 are on there way out fans are dying :(

7 120mm fans and 1 140 fan

starting to think some reviews are being paid since when the product actually is released its ok for short while then suddenly theres problems like the asus top for example.

4gb won't be beneficial at that resolution, waste of money if you ask me. I have yet to see a review of one of the 'double ram' cards which actually performs better than the standard ones.

So is that a yes to 2 evga 670 FTW's?

lol

suppose the 4GB on the superclock is more for multi monitor support gaming than 2560x res.

wouldnt mind a member of OCUK chipping in for an unbiased tip on a fast card to get in sli for 2560x gaming

ill go with whats being advised then :D

evga 670 ftw it is

by the way from what i can see 2 680 2GB FTW would cost £915
