Is Disneyland worth visiting as an adult?

If you're going to disneyland, go in October - the halloween nights at Universal LA are epic. Not sure how the one at Universal Orlando compares as they don't have a backlot tour.

Actually Orlando used to have a Backlot Tour that was based on the Hollywood one, I did it when I was a kid, but they got rid of it in 1995. They do have a new version of the Earthquake portion of the ride at Orlando though, which is supposed to make a film trailer, so no doubt a lot better.

The Hollywood Backlot Tour is starting to show its age now though. I'd read that the 'broken bridge' is on its last legs and many parts of the tour look very dated. Instead they just try and dress different parts up to make them seem more modern, like the waves being parted is now supposed to represent King Kong. While it might be a real working Studio, you don't really see any of that, plus a lot of the stuff that was used in filming once upon a time... such as The Back to The Future and City Streets facades all burnt down in the fire a few years ago.

Yes it's bloody brilliant. Don't forget you've got Seaworld/Busch Gardens/Universal/Water parks etc. aswell. I plan on going there (again) next year, at the ripe old age of 25.

That's Florida, and is indeed awesome (though about 2 decades since I went....) - Disneyland is in California - though the OP might be confusing it with Disney World...

I went to Disneyland Paris when I was about 13, loved it.

I went to Disneyland California when I was about 16, loved it even more.

I went to Disneyland Florida when I was 26 (last year), and loved it even more than the previous two visits.

I want to go back soooo badly.

Disneyland = California.

Disneyworld = Florida.

Disneyland is smaller than the carpark for Disneyworld's Magic Kingdom park.

Where Disney have the edge over the other parks, in my opinion, is in the themes attached to the rides. The Tower of Terror is a prime example of how the theme makes the ride better when compared to the similar Doctor Doom's Fearfall at Islands Of Adventure.

Whether you like one park over the other is very subjective. My wife loves Animal Kingdom while I prefer Epcot and my son loves Magic Kingdom. We all enjoy the water parks (entry is included on your Disney ticket). Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon where never too busy and are always spotless. We found Wet n Wild to be quite grubby and Aquatica was very overcrowded, leading to long queues.

Just back from staying at Disney three weeks ago and already booked up again for next year. Beach Club here we come. What's not to like?

^ what he said. Just think of Disneyland California as the Isle of Wight and Disneyworld Florida as Great Britain.

Only not ****, obviously.

Go to the more intense parks instead (IOA and Busch) - or at least as well as :D Seaworld is very cool too..

While Florida Disney is huge compared to Disneyland in LA, its still got a lot going for it. Plus you've also got Universal Studios and Six Flags if you want some proper white knuckle rides. Infact, I'd say Disneyland is a lot better as a grown up without kids, as there is also more to see in LA, the surrounding area and the beach. Disneyworld is kind of in its own land mass, which means you have to go a lot further to escape it.

The most recent set in the backlot tour in LA is something like desperate housewives, but the next one is the aeroplane crash from war of the worlds. Now that's pretty cool on the tram, but on the horror nights when you have to WALK through it, it's something else!

I went to Disney World with my Missus about 8 years ago. We picked (by luck, not knowledge) one of the best times to go there which was around the Thanks giving weekend, which meant almost no queues. The weather was also great, not too warm (about 22-25C) and especially not too humid. We just had a week there which was a bit too short in my opinion to enjoy it fully without too much rushing about and deal with the jet lag.

We are planning to go there again with our 6 years old daughter, which i think is the perfect age for going there and to enjoy most of what the DW has to offer.
