Do you reckon it would be a good idea for me to swap out my AMD Phenom II X6 1075t for a new FX-8120.

I had a look on ebay and the 1055T are selling for around £70 and with the AMD promo on at the moment it would only cost around £115 for the new cpu for in total only £45 for a new cpu?

Keep your money. There's no reason to pay extra money for "downgrading" to a Bulldozer. The Bulldozer would need something like 500-600MHz higher on the core clock to match the performance of Phenom II.

benchmark results for the cpus are

AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 5,539
AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core 7,069
AMD FX-8150 Eight-Core 8,260
Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz 6,739
Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz 9,084

So the fx does quite a bit better than my 1075t

No it actually doesn't. The Bulldozer would be a step backwards from your Phenom as it has less IPC (Instructions Per clock) The Phenom you have should be kicking the Bulldozers ass easily.

If you can get it for £45 then that is worth the upgrade however if you are looking for a major performance increase then you might want to wait for next gen FX processors

An unless you got any productive tasks that uses up to 8 cores, on 6 cores or less performance it is slower than Phenom II X6.

Performance wise, the FX at 3.6GHz is only roughly equal to Phenom II at 3.0GHz.

As others have said, don't bother 'upgrading' to BD, it will most likely be a step backwards, since BD has terrible IPC. If you want a genuine upgrade, then jump to Intel and get a decent IB/SB i5 or i7. Or if you want to keep your mobo, then wait to see what Piledriver brings- but whatever you do, do not buy any BD processor.

definately keep the phenom, them amd phenoms are far better than the bulldozers imo, they overclock great and provide a powerful, long lasting stable pc, and they are cheap!
