Do you know when you opened your bank account?

/edit - you probably want to be vague if posting dates as they can be used for security questions.

My father got an account disabled/possible fraud letter from Natwest this morning for the online banking account I helped him set up on Friday.

He phoned them up and went through some security questions until they asked him the date he opened the account. Decades ago was the closest he could come so they refused to talk further and told him to phone back from a Branch.

Can you remember the date you set your account up?

One of mine I can get year and probably month as it was close to a major event in my life. The other my guess is probably accurate to a year or two (getting towards 20 years and 10 years respectively).

My Natwest account was just before I was a student (so September 2008), but my Santander (which was Alliance & Leicester) was set up when I was about 12, at a guess?

Nope! On the subject, I recently discovered a bank account that I hadn't touched in 4 years and had forgotten about. There was a nice amount of money in too.

I think a fairly vague answer is allowed... I normally say "When I was 16... You do the math, you work for a bank" lol.

Works everytime!

That's a tough question. Not like you can just go and look it up unless you can link it to some kind of life event.

Hmm, my current account was set up in August 1979 - that's when I left school and needed an account for wages to be paid into :)

I'm glad I am not the only one.

After some thought I have narrowed them down but had I been hit out of the blue with the question while on the phone my responce would probably have been "errrrrm".

I had a similar issue earlier, my inet account got locked out. And I had forgone paper statements

I got asked about when I opened mine, and my last money coming in. I didn't know either, no statements and locked out!

I have resumed paper statements! I took a guess about the year, I was right!

Add to that if I was the fraudster and had broken into my account those are exactly the details I would knw!
