***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Exchanged my Galaxy S3 for another, hoping to not have the same problems with the battery I had first time round.

Currently waiting for it to charge fully, don't wanna risk anything!

What battery issues did you have?

With OMEGA I'm averaging 15-18 hours on an average work day before the battery reaches about 20%. That's on stock kernel.

That's with mobile reception of at least -85dBm though.

Just serious drainage problems, with screen brightness on auto and fairly low active use with no apps open, the battery would drain 20% between 1-2 hours..

Did you give the battery a few cycles to get in the swing of things?

Mine was pretty terrible on the first few charges, as was the spare battery I purchased. Now at 15:20 - over 8 hours since taking my phone off charge, my battery is at 78% with moderate use and even some tethering!

Sorry I never mentioned it but I meant that all this is done with ODIN. That is the correct firmware. You will still have to change the CSC after the flash as it doesn't do it manually. Do the CSC change as soon as you have flashed and are running the new firmware as a CSC change will also factory reset the phone so no point setting up anything until that's changed and you reboot.

EDIT: The reason why you chould change the CSC to BTU is that on this product code, you are just on generic UK firmware so your phone will then find OTA firmware updates as and when they are ready (i.e. it doesn't rely on ORA firmware being released by orange, which doesn't always happen. The BTU CSC code will get you the OTA updates straight from Samsung as they are released :)

Hmm, that didn't do much. ODIN just sat there saying 'please wait'. Had to bomb ODIN and unplug the phone, which seems fine thank God. USB Debugging was ticked, and ODIN recognised the phone was connected. I did factory reset the phone too. Any ideas? Bit scared now :(

Went through a number of cycles of battery, no different each time.

Wow, after saying that Vodafone weren't being brilliant with upgrades, contacted their web relations team, got a phone call within an hour, and got exactly the deal I was looking for, (£26 300 mins, ultd texts, 500MB internet), 16gb Blue for an upfront of £85!

Kudos to Vodafone!

Do you have the software update button under 'about device'? My wife's just got one via Orange and it's missing. Not happy! How will Kies get an Orange update?

Sorry pal, within half an hour of having it I was rooted and had Omega 6 running on it.

You are putting the phone into download mode arent you? (power off the phone, then hold down VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER)??? If so, right click on ODIN and run it as admininstrator and try again.

I got that exact same deal through mobilephonesdirect.co.uk and they haven't even bothered to charge me for the handset :p

Yep, download mode entered OK, connect phone, run ODIN, select file, click start... time passes... I get nervous... nothing happens! I did run ODIN as Administrator both times I tried.

I've restarted the laptop ODIN is on, and checked that Samsung USB Drivers are installed, which they are. I guess uninstall Kies and the drivers maybe? Starting to wonder if this is worth it at the moment, the wife wants her phone back and I've just factory reset it. Aaargh!
