Pro Cycling - 2012 Season

David has gotten the nod for the Olympics - to be announced this afternoon.

Good.
I can see him doing a great job as team leader in the road race, working hard for cav. Then everyone will say "All that fuss and he wasnt even anywhere near the front"

How many entries do we get for the TT? Is a GB 1,2 realistic? :p I'd say 2 in the top 5 is definitely achievable.

I'm happy for David Millar, I think the right decision has been reached in the end. I've plugged it on here before but his book is an excellent read (Racing Through The Dark).

Oh dear:
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has formally charged Lance Armstrong and five other individuals, among them current RadioShack-Nissan team manager Johan Bruyneel and sports doctor Michele Ferrari, in connection with doping charges related to the period 1998 and 2011.

Response from Lance:
Lance said:
I have been notified that USADA, an organization largely funded by taxpayer dollars but governed only by self-written rules, intends to again dredge up discredited allegations dating back more than 16 years to prevent me from competing as a triathlete and try and strip me of the seven Tour de France victories I earned. These are the very same charges and the same witnesses that the Justice Department chose not to pursue after a two-year investigation. These charges are baseless, motivated by spite and advanced through testimony bought and paid for by promises of anonymity and immunity. Although USADA alleges a wide-ranging conspiracy extended over more than 16 years, I am the only athlete it has chosen to charge. USADA’s malice, its methods, its star-chamber practices, and its decision to punish first and adjudicate later all are at odds with our ideals of fairness and fair play.

I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one. That USADA ignores this fundamental distinction and charges me instead of the admitted dopers says far more about USADA, its lack of fairness and this vendetta than it does about my guilt or innocence.

Hoping ITV release their iOS app again. It was brilliant last year; it showed every stage from the depart which is usually an hour before their broadcast coverage starts.

was it only iOS or droid too?
never had much fun with the ITV on demand service, always seems to be down.

Could have been Android too, but i only know about the iOS version. I think a lot of folks had problems with it crashing last year but it was brilliant for me. No mention if it on the ITV TdF site this year though.

Remember to sign up to road.cc fantasy cycling for the tour.
There is an OcUK league (id is 75385).

List of prizes for each stage here. The overall prize is a BMC bike, but that one is only available to premium members (£10/year).
