7970 windforce

MY brother has 2 in xfire.
They are indeed quality cards they idle at around 30 and at load never over 70.
The noise when at load is not too bad, it is louder than some of the cards he has had(5970) but at the same time its also quieter than some he has had(6990).
He has not oc`ed them at all but there is nothing 2 wont run at maximum so he has had no need too, and also they are oc`ed slightly over stock ones anyway.
The price on oc is cracking my bro paid a lot more when they 1st came out.

All in all a cracking card at a great price :)

He's right ya know;)

I bought one recently, my first ever graphics card though so can't compare it to others :D but no problem maxing the games I've played, hasn't gone over 57° (according to msi afterburner) with fans at 47 usually. It is quieter than my case fans so no problem with noise. I have no problems with it so far and don't regret the purchase at all :)

Was going to get a 670gtx wf but i think the 7970 would be a better purchase in the long term as it has more headroom for overclocking and faster once o/c ed alittle further from what i've read.

supposedly a bit cooler but also a bit louder than the sapphire dual-x. also has a lower asic quality than the sapphire dual-x by 30%, but i don't think anyone knows yet what that even means

The 7970 battles with the 680 moreso than the 670 i think bud and theres still room for oc`ing so at that price its a great buy

Ok card coming tomorrow, what's the best drivers out currently and which is best for overclocking trixx, afterburner or asus tweak ?

I think it is a case of always buying the best you can afford. 7950, 7970 & 670gtx are all good cards, i had a hard time choosing between 670 & 7970 to be honest.

I've just hit the 'buy' button on one of these. I'd been planning on a 670, but I think the Windforce 7970 at the on -offer price was just too tempting..

Fingers crossed it'll be as good as my 5870 has been.

Noticed that the 7970 needs an 8 pin pci-e cable but my psu only has 2x6pin pci-e cables.
Is my psu ok to handle a 7970 and is it ok to use a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter?
