getting rid of my Lumia 800. Waiting too long for updates, is just no good for me. Theres just too many basic features, that this phone lacks, that should have been there from the start. customizable backgrounds, customizable sms tones, useful bluetooth support, tethering, there list goes on and on. I'm selling my Windows Phone and going to Android. Microsoft, I gave you a chance, and you blew it big time!

background = lock screen and its pointless to put background when the tiles cover whole screen
tethering = Tango update
i suggest you wait for 7.8 update before you do anything
Tango update due any day for tethering, cant remember the last time I used Bluetooth and really, you get hung up over a phone that cant have different SMS and Background that are covered by icons and widgets, lol.
But overall, you really wanna **** WP for not getting updates, hows that update to users from Ginger to ICS going?
if you follow this, you should be able to firce update your 800 to tango. its worked for my 710 and other 800s i believe.
Try this is Zune says your phone is up to date.
turn the phone into airplane mode.
check in zune for an update if it says its upto date if it does, press one option above or below the update option
next click update and around 2-3seconds disconect from your internet conection, hopefully it will say update available, reconect click ok, and sit back

sick of waiting. It may be just around the corner, but it's just taken too long, and quite frankly, has left a sour taste in my mouth.
If im honest, having custom sms tones doesnt bother me that much, it's just the fact that the functionality isnt even there, annoys me. Why isnt it there? Is there a good reason? Probably not. I just dislike the lack of freedom you have with Windows Phone, compared to Android.
Lol thats out of the frying pan and into the fire! Android devices can take months to get the update AFTER the update was released by Google if they get the update at all!
The only Android device I would buy is the Galaxy Nexus Prime as that way you get updates direct from Google when the are released.
I had a Samsung Galaxy S and the wait for updates when HTC devices had already been updated was why I sold it and moved back to iOS. If you are selling WP7 as you are sick of waiting for updates I wouldnt recommend Android!
Will try this tomorrow, the Tango update for T mobile and Orange UK was spotted on Navifirm earlier today. So the update is on the servers, but my phone was still saying its up to date.

Unsure if this is a trolling post.
1. Custom backgrounds - These are found under Settings > System > Lock + Wallpaper
2. Custom SMS - WP7.5 unless unlocked doesn't support this, it does support custom ringtones. However, this is very similar in a sense to iOS.
3. I have had no problems with Bluetooth, using mine.
4. Tethering - This can be found under Settings > System > Internet Sharing (Once handset has been updated to the phone)
So the update is available now? I tried last night at 2 am using the flight mode method and it wouldn't work. Will try again soon.
Regarding waiting for updates, my X10 mini pro is still running android 2.1 because updating that thing was a pita. This lumia 800, you just connect to the PC and Zune does it without anything complicated needed. All I need adding to the phone is tethering then im not bothered about anything else.

Edit: OK, it worked for me to get to 8112 but tried the 2nd time and got nothing. No Tango yet then :/
