parking woes - house opposite regularly blocks my drive

I like how this has turned from suggestions to "you're drivings ****, sort your life out"

but meh, like a quiz show... I've started so I'll finish

corner to corner, a civic covers the entirety of the road.... road is narrow... k?

Of they are leaving the car there instead of parking on their drive then that is very inconsiderate!

whats this suppose to show?

oh, now you edit your pics...

Anyway theres is miles of room to pull out, your taking a wide angle out of your drive on your example pics

i honestly cant believe you cannot get your car in or out with a car parked opposite your drive

same unless its an abnormally narrow street

even the photo shows the wheels totally not on full lock. its tight yes but if i was that worried i would widen the entrance a bit

i really dont think that them or visitors parking outside their own home is being unreasonable

they are, she was out shopping with her mother (who lives in the car outside which she has parked)

same unless its an abnormally narrow street and hes driving a limo

does that picture not help to illustrate how narrow both the drive and the road are?

Why the hell do they park in the street when they have got a drive anyway?
Im guessing by the amout of pugs in that area they are old people.

Every time you want to get out of your drive knock on their door and ask them to move. They will get bored of it eventually

not really it looks like many streets round here that where made in the 50s/60s when cars wherent massive

my grandad for example had to knock down and rebuild his wall because a new shape clio doesnt physically fit through the gap !

Isn't the car classed as an obstruction and thus the police could be called to remove it?

Edit: If its a dropped curb it is an obstruction according to the highway code.

This. Seems you've tried to be polite about it but with no avial. Go round acting like a grumpy git, they'll soon get the message and get tired of it.

tell that to the primary schools round here where lazy parents line either side of the streets with people carriers and 4x4s . the council stuck bollards up so now they all park on the road at either side :/ . they even show up 45 minutes before school finishes for the privelage despite there being a HUGE car park 500m from the school

Yep - i have tried and its amazing how hostile old people can be when they've lived on the road for 40 years and i've only lived here for 18 months - this young whipper snapper trying to actually use his drive :o

I like this approach, or just knock your wall down, open plan driveways are all the rage, maybe :p

Yeah - knocking the wall down is an option we've discussed before, but i like having gates and don't want to have to spend money, that in my mind i shouldn't have to, on a new pair :(

I cannot stand people who park on the roads when they have their own driveway. It's an act of pure laziness.

Either way you only have a two options. Take it on the chin and widen the entrance/exit so it's more convenient for you to access.

Or secondly start a neighbour war, and start parking your own car across your drive. But at least park on the pavement, at least any cars using the street would require the neighbour to move their car. But i guess in the mean time any member of public could call the police out because you're obstructing a pavement. Which would leave the last option of racing them home to park in the street.

I hate it when people do this to me but it is a rare occurrence. In your situation, having already tried to sort it in a reasonable way, would be to lose the small section of wall.

They're retired :( The cars that persistently block the driveway are that of the daughter and son. I cant win :p

Keep knocking then. Hell as soon as they pull up go and knock once they've had time to sit down in the house then just drive around the block once :p
