I took my daughter into work, it's not just women that start cooing and crowding!
Is she over 16?

There really are some miserable people here. It's a kid so what?
Yup I'm one of those that gathers around. Kind of shows how close to your colleagues a lot of you are. I fortunately get on really well with all of mine.
I just don't find small babies that interesting, in the same way as I don't find one of my colleagues fascination with mountain biking that interesting but it doesn't mean we don't have a good working and social relationship.
One of my friend's has two toddlers and I don't mind them and you can actually interact with them but babies are just so non-discript and I don't see the big deal.

Yes, a random baby is a random baby, but this is the baby of someone you know, and that is the link to why it is assumed that would at least be polite enough to have a small coo.
Someone in the office buys a new car, the people interested in cars have a look at it and say "Nice car, mate", the ones who aren't interested in cars don't bother.
Are the ones who don't bother being impolite?
Terrible comparison.![]()
And when the OP is a few years older and has kids of his own I am kind of expecting ... and hoping he would be equally proud of his children and want them to meet and by met by people he spends a large part of his waking hours with..
The gays too?

I think you have to be a parent/ready to be a parent rather than a rational human being to understand.
Exactly, it's a kid, so what?
So why gather round and feign interest when you admit it's only a kid and nothing special?
So unless you gather round marvelling at their child like they'd just found the holy grail in their back garden you aren't a real 'friend'?

What is it with Parents bringing their kids into work to show around? It just seems to annoy me.
I presume its because I'm a guy as all the women are huddling around.
Do you think this should be done or not?
