70s/80s rock music? Sweet Home Alabama?

I would give Steve Earle and Steely Dan a go. Right era, right sound.

It might also be worth trying some of the more recent british folky acts. Show of Hands and Seth Lakeman are both worth a go.

Anyone who's a fan of 70s/80s style "Dad Rock" (as it's become known) would do well to check out The Night Flight Orchestra. It's a band comprised of various members from melodic death metal bands including Soilwork and Arch Enemy, but it's a world away from their normal stuff and very, very good. Total "open top on the highway" type of American rock. The album's called "Internal Affairs".

I do like a bit of Steve Earle.

Seth Lakeman is good too, but i'm not sure just how much you could say anything is 'like' Sweet Home Alabama.

Lynyrd Skynyrd = Southern Rock

So definitely try out Molly Hatchet, 38 Special and Black Oak Arkansas because these will be as close as you'll get.
Blackfoot are on the edge of the circle and responsible for the greatest live album of all time - Blackfoot Live.
CCR are a good call and John Fogerty is a God.
You could touch on the Georgia Satellites but goodness knows how Leblanc put Steely Dan in the mix.
