May be a stupid question, but...

When I turn my sky box on, my tv switches over to it. When I turn my PS3 on, my tv switches over to it. When I turn on my new 360, I have to change to it myself.

Am I missing a setting some where, or is that just how it is? All connected by hdmi.

The 360 is very temperamental with HDMI, to the point that turning off a TV it's connected to can cause the console to restart.

I've found that if it's hooked up to a TV that's switched off, the box doesn't fully initialise. It turns off before completing the boot process, just as it does using the other types of video cable -- ie. if you turn one on with no video cables plugged into something that is "talking back", the console will switch off after a short period.

I got around that, though, by plugging it into an HDMI auto-switcher, which seems to talk back even though the TV is off.

It's one of those wierd things which is different with every Tv and setup, on my latest samsung tv it auto switches when the Xbox is switched on, freeview works fine. For the Ps3 it has to be switched manually but then the freeview stops working as well, it seems to just lose signal. It used to be the opposite on an old LG Tv I was using, the Ps3 would be fine but the Xbox would be a pain.

The PS3 will also turn on TVs and AV Amps that are left in standby if you tick the right option. Means you can turn everything on just by picking up the DS3 and pressing the PS button.
