We are looking for a TV thats either 42" or 50" for £450 or less

I have found the following for £450

LG 50PA4500 50-inch HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview and 2 HDMI Ports (New for 2012)

I want to check some details as not sure if its 768p or 1080p. What does it mean by "Output picture is defined as HD ready not full HD"

Product Features
1024 x 768 Pixel Resolution
600Hz
50" Plasma TV

Resolution: 1024 x 768
Just Scan: HDMI/Component: 1080i / 1080p / 720p, RF: 1080i / 720p
PC Resolution: 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz
Please note: This TV will accept a 1080p input signal. The output picture is defined as HD Ready, not Full HD 1080p
Audio

Other TV recommendations are more than welcome :)

Went into richers sounds and was told there was 3 left in stock and 2 reserved. Checked prices online and then bought it. Being delivered tonight :)

Thanks again

Sweet, looking at the reviews it seems good for 2D aswell. Im sure you be happy with your purchase:)

Very happy.

The only problem now is that there is no audio out analogue. Can a converter be purchased that goes from digital audio out to phono?

Nope don't think so. I have the same issue with my 50" LG PK590 (I think), had a set of speakers I liked to use but no dice.

That first TV is not even HD, quite shocking they still sell these in 2012

Standard 720p has 1280 x 720 pixels. With 1024 x 768 , you got the vertical resolution but your missing some pixels on the width. You will be missing some picture detail thats for sure.

EDIT: You made a better purchase with the 1080p one.

Sorry mate I made a mistake, the UCA202 only accepts USB input.

Maybe the Fiio D3 will do the trick, is your digital audio out a coax connection?

Or you may have an SPDIF, the Fiio D3 does both by the looks of it.

I agree with most of this. However, lets not forget HDTV is currently 720p or 1080i and no one is in a hurry to change this, if you're using it for TV only a 720p TV is not such a bad thing (if your on a tigh budget).

SPDIF I think -

Analogue Audio Output
Does it have a dedicated analogue audio output? This lets you connect the TV's sound to a hi-fi system.
No

It was the 50PZ550T that I got, not the 50PZ250T. Don't think there is any difference from what i can find
Digital Audio Output
Does it have a dedicated digital audio output? This lets you connect the TV's sound to an AV or digital hi-fi system.
Yes - Optical

Yep, or your link has a cheaper version of the D3, for £15 called "Digital Optical Coaxial Toslink to Analog RCA Audio Converter"

It would also do the same and people in the reviews seems happy with it.
