*sniff* I'm so proud of Coventry right now

^ Hence my comment eariler. I just thought people saw the video before commenting. But if you watch the video it's nowhere as serious as people think.

What I had in my mind reading the story and what the video showed was completely different. I bet there parents told them to go try and have a hold. Wasn't malicious.

Just think, the relay could have suddenly got interesting.

"Two blokes have nicked the torch and are currently running down Cov high street. They are being pursued by the Olympic team"

No ...... wait ....... He's passed it to someone else and now they are running!

The team are in pursuit

:D

My best memory of Coventry was my first lecture there.

Professor stood up and welcomed us with:

"Welcome to Coventry, a city that was pretty well bombed during the war.
Unfortunately, not well enough as we we've rebuilt it."

Yeah it didn't really recover after the bombing. City design in the 50/60's was shockingly bad... Its one of those cities that just struggles along, never bad enough to get government aid, not good enough to improve itself.
Most students at Warwick choose to live in Leamington (the university is actually in Coventry, a fact they do their best to hide), and put up with a much longer commute. Also, despite having ~10% of the population, Leamington manages to have better nightlife.

I've never been anywhere quite like Coventry. I was walking around the town in broad daylight and people kept coming up to me to try to sell me some drugs. Is this normal or did I pick a bad day?!

Seems you picked a bad day, I've been here for 21 years and being offered drugs on the street obviously does happen, but not several times a day every day. Maybe you look like a druggy? ;)

Ahh well, graduating next month and moving to London in September. Doubt I'll live here again to be honest.

Saying that, the video didn't look that bad. I doubt they were really trying to nick the torch, just wanted to join in the fun.

One of the few things Coventry does have going for it is that it's nicer than Leamington. Seriously, what a stinking hole! I have no idea why so many Warwick students put up with living there when Earlsdon is nicer, cheaper and nearer.

Preaching to the converted here, I lived in Earlsdon in my second year. Lots of students move out of leam for their third and fourth years as well. Earlsdon isn't as student friendly as leamington though and for the most part its grimier. The nice parts of earlsdon aren't really most student budgets either, and most students who could afford that would rather spend that sort of money living in the posh parts of leamington
