Had a mini GP go karting with the lads this weekend. 79 lap race + 5 lap qualify. Felt so sick after the 20th lap, had to turn into the pit. Wasted money really.

I never get travel sick! im told it could be the fumes.. Gutted. Anyone else had this? anyway of getting around it. As its going to be a weekly thing, and the first 20 laps rocked.. was 2nd.

Was it indoors? I've been to a place up in bristol a couple of times for GPs. That place is indoors and there have been people that have had to retire due to nausea and light-headedness. Even though the place has industrial extractor fans installed.

Yes mate, apparently the guy told me that they even do air changes 3 times aday.

Hope its just the fumes; ill just stick to the outdoor ones! haha.

yeah i got sick the first time I went karting. for me I think it was a mix of fumes, going around the same way over and over again. I think for me what made it worse was the track was indoors, and the fumes couldnt disperse quickly enough

My back/neck goes ping if I do karting for anything longer than 15 minutes - our local track will only do a maximum of 15 minutes per person unless you're a member of the club. Good policy IMO

79 laps?! Didn't feel sick at all but I did a days karting once at the outdoor track in Milton Keynes and I think there were 3x 15-20lap races. I ended up with huge blisters on my hands and a severely bruised back, I couldn't imagine the state you'd be in after 79 laps. Maybe it was due to poor equipment, and I was told to 'calm down' a few times but still...

Had this at the track in Exeter, made it to the end but at one point I was very close to being sick in the car. It stank like hell and the fumes weren't going anywhere.

Then I did the indoor one in Plymouth and had no problems at all. I guess they had a better system in place to get the air cleaner.

Last time i went to an indoor one, they had massive roller doors at either end of the building to help vent the fumes, plus around 6 Extractor fans, i wouldnt want to be inside a building with just fans doing the job..yuk.

It happens to me with the fumes. Usually don't mind coming in a little bit early as I am last place most of the time.

in that situation 3 times an HOUR wouldn't be enough!

FUMES!

I think he had me on the wind up then, because he said they where the only company what did this 3 times a day.

Yeah i couldnt feel my thumbs after 10 minutes. Proper throws you around. Ill stick to the outdoor ones.

The track was small, 79 laps took just over 40 mins.

Went to a Grand Prix Session few weeks ago with around 8 of us, 4 out of the 8 were drivers not including me, They had all the mouth and banter. I came 1st unfortnatly as promised everyone backed out of adding £10 each for the winner w*****s!!

But back on to the sickness, this was indoor.. and on the way home we had 2 cars following each other.. all of a sudden on the duel carriage way doing 60.. one of the lads stuck his head out of the window and chucked his entire guts out a nice neon green/yellow colour.. he blamed the Go Karting.

As you can imagine we all pulled over to see the mess of inside the car, out side the car and so on.. he still gets banter to this day, dosen't answer your question but atleast your not the only one in this boat! so it seems.

Yep, Ive seen it happen at races as well. Not happened to me, but its always amusing when someone doesn't listen to their body and blows chunks whilst wearing a helmet! Oh the lols!

its more likely to be caused by the fumes as everyone else has said, but if it's just general car sickness then i've found that ginger pills work wonders. normally i'd give herbal medicines a wide berth but the mythbusters tried it and found that it worked as well as the conventional medicine but didn't give you the drowsiness.

Some of my friends went a few months ago and said the same thing. Have you ever been to the track at St.Eval near Newquay? Me and her ladyship went a few weeks ago, brilliant outdoor track there :)
