Stolen iTouch - Annoying!

What precisely is this two button trick you talk of. If you try and sync if the iPod is locked you can't do squat. I know of no way to do it by simply pressing two buttons. Surely that navigates the whole point

Ugh I just get so mad reading stuff like this, the punk who stole that itouch needs a Singapore-style lashing followed by 5 years hard unpaid labour. Seriously...we could learn a thing or two from that country.

May he rot, curses of the Devil on people like him!

The iPod Touch (stylized and marketed as lowercase iPod touch; also colloquially referred to as the iTouch

I've also used this name many times to shorten it.
I know I have a Fender Stratocaster but sometimes I call it a Strat.

Use the power and home button to put it into flash mode, itunes detects this and flashes new ios software onto it, nice shiney wiped ipud.

Ah Wikipedia, that makes it 100% factual then, not only factual, but correct to say too!

Do you refer to your Fender Stratocaster as an fStrat though?

Similar thing happened to a family member of mine and an iPhone 4. It was stolen in a burglary, so I went on Find my iPhone and remotely locked it, and also tracked it to an address about 5 mins walk away. The circle of confidence put it down to one of either two 3 storey flats; Police were informed and they went to the address. They then didn't knock on any doors since 'there were too many flats'. There would have been 6 potential doors. :/

By this time when the Police returned the phone had been turned off. Gutting to say the least. :(

Shame...

Now with this Touch, if Apple were to show the Apple account now using it, that might have an address associated with it, and/or a credit card (with an address)... But alas no :(

Seems a bit of a design flaw with the phone tracking if you can just turn it off to avoid it.

And indeed all the password protection, unique serial numbers and iCloud stuff for the Touch, rendered useless by holding a single button down on it and then simply letting iTunes do the rest for you in covering up your crime

It does show you the last known location, and you can set it so that it automatically emails you as soon as it's turned on again. I wasn't aware it was so easy to bypass though, I thought it wouldn't be able to work if plugged in to a computer if remotely locked. :( In which case it's blummin' useless. :(

^^ Agreed! And even people with a braincell too! :)

Everyone knows what people are talking about when people use the phrase "iTouch". It's a logical abbreviation given the iPad and iPhone. But unbelievably some people have nothing better to do than run around like headless chickens trying to police the matter. And to think some people's only contribution to this thread is to geek off to this. ridiculous! Is it something about this specific forum, or computers in general that means we can witness not just one of these individuals coming to a thread like this, but infact a flock of these parrots arriving.

Everyone knows an abbreviated (slang) name for it is an iTouch. Get over it. The sky is not falling!
