Scientology - Who's really mad

Christianity / Islam etc - Invisible Gods in the sky.
Scientology - People that live on Earth are reincarnated aliens who used to live on other planets.

Forget about the origins of each. But if you were asked what was the more likely scenario, what would you say?

Which is the crazy religion now?

Are you implying its mostly religious people who think Scientology is crazy?

Then who is Xenu

L Ron Hubbard getting carried away.....you'll find that the Church of Scientology distance themselves from the story of a Galactic Overlord who killed billions in an income tax scam in Earths volcanos releasing their Thetan Souls which are now trapped in some kind of energy ribbon in Earths atmosphere and have now forgotten their origins, have all gone crazy and are responsible for the evil people do......

They even go so far as to litigate against those that spread the story and when they do rarely acknowledge it is compared to allegory rather than truth....

It just goes to illustrate how inconsistant the Church of Scientolgy is in its beliefs and how they present them.

Church of Scientology is pretty mad, we're just so used to the other religions that we don't really question their strange practices as much as we do with Scientology.

For example, the geiger counter-like device that scientologists have, that's no less bizarre than praying five times a day facing Mecca, or not eating meat on Fridays, is it?

Pretty much any established religion regardless of how likely the original concepts may or may not be has been corrupted by man. You have to be blindly foolish to follow the current incarnation of pretty much any established religion I can think of.

EDIT: And slightly more in answer to the topic I don't believe any of them are any likely than any other in terms of specifics but most of them address similiar core concepts which could be just as likely as they might be unlikely.

Not just religion, everything is corrupted by man. Everything.

Is this not because they want to change $$$ in order for access to the Xenu story.

It's on many leaked documents and court revelations.

They charge for everything...but that's not the issue. The problem most people have is not their beliefs, inconsistant or otherwise, but the way they practice those beliefs and employ procedures that can only be described as mind control reinforced by mental and physical abuse.

I live in the town where scientology UK headquarters are they contribute to the town and leave people alone, not bad really everyone has their beliefs let them get on with it, its not as if Christianity is whiter than white.

I agree with the op

The traditional religions have the advantage of little evidence and reliable record keeping being around at said time. The newer the religion the more ludicrous it seems, partly because there is much more conflicting evidence

The first I really knew about Scientology was the south park episode.was shocked..also annoyed my auto correct capitalised Scientology

If there's definitely something we should all agree on, it's that we should live and let live. These guys are a strange bunch but they're more than free to act like a strange bunch.

It seems virtually the same to me. It's no more a ritualistic device than the grail or pieces of bread that the daft sods in the church claim to be the body of Jesus.

Because the E-Meter claimed to be a scientific instument with practical rather than just spiritual applications, at least they did until a court forced them to alter how they describe the machine.

Not to mention the claims that the auditing, in which the E-meter plays a crucial part, has increased IQ, cured dyslexia, asthma and through Dianetics has successfully treated arthritis, heart conditions, eye conditions, allergies and not to mention the claims of successful treatment of mental illnesses.

You could compare it to faith healing maybe, but not simply to religious ritual designed to created a shared identity and culture more than anything else.
