He might not go to Man Utd (doubt he will leave Bayern) but my point is, Schweinsteiger is a CM you pay top cash for. Modric isn't one.

Schweinsteiger is probably the most complete midfielder in the world, and one of the best players in the world. Modric doesn't have the same role and doesn't do as much.

Schweinsteiger would cost a lot more than £40m, if they even wanted to sell him. You're talking £50m+ IMO.

Standard reply, at least he's not denied it.

It also looks like Berbatov is staying now as well! Would be great if we could use him properly for a change...

Moutinho would be a great signing for United, depending on the price. He may not be playing in the best league in world, but he has CL and international experience - it wouldn't be a huge step up. Of course there's a risk he may flop, but if you're talking extremes then there's just as much chance he'd flourish and become a leading PL player.

Holt has signed a 3 year contract at Norwich. I'm sure hes got a hefty pay rise.

They've also signed Butterfield from Barnsley who looks a very good prospect (or did until Michael Brown cropped him last year :D)

Not transfer news but Valencia has been named our new number 7, things like this make me worry about Nani's future :(

Apparently Tony V asked for the shirt once it was known Owen was off

Kagawa turned it down didn't he, he said 'I've just joined the team and haven't accomplished anything yet,' said Kagawa. 'I want to make a name for myself [at United] on my own terms" was suprised at that but you gotta respect him for saying that. Valencia had a good season last year and I think deserves to wear that iconic shirt number

Brown is a horrible footballer. He had no other intention in that game apart from putting Butterfield out of it!

Butts is decent and I think he's picked the right team to move to. Apparently they offered us "substantially less" than £500K for him to prevent tribunal, but that's been rejected and we should get more to be honest.

By giving that number to Valencia I doubt we will be bringing in any more big signings well atleast any attacking players. I still think baines will join and maybe a striker if berba leaves but highly doubt Modric or any other player that was capable of coming in and getting no7 shirt

Would Nani want it? Ronaldo dominates with his CR7 brand... Nani is probably happy he has a different number!

Probably the best player to fill it really. 100% every week and arguably one of the best old school wingers out there. Happy at United and dropped his agent.

Plus Nani plays number 17 for Portugal as well ;)

Personally always thought that bit more of Kagawa for refusing the No 7 shirt. Starting with a clean slate, wanting to prove himself at Utd knowing he has to earn a (regular) startng position - all major plus points from my way of looking at it

Think positive and cross fingers that "one or two signings" ends up being exactly that ready for the 1st team, rather than additions for the future

Word is he is still looking at a CM, LB and Forward but he needs to free the space up in the squad. If it's Kagawa and Powell then I won't be overly worried as long as Tom Cleverly and Anderson can keep relatively injury free.

Even " one or two" would only be replacing the one or two (or three or four) that are leaving or should be leaving (Fabio, Pogba and Owen, with the possibility of Berbatov, Macheda and in my dreams Park)

Fergie has never been great with numbers though, his one or two players rarely seems to take into account outgoings.

I expect nobody else to come in, a one for the future maybe, not a one for right now though.

It's going to be fun next summer because we'll have the gaps left by Giggs and Scholes to fill on top of whatever he fails to plug this summer.

just seen that the new owners at watford have binned Sean Dyche in favour of Gianfranco Zola, after leading them to there best position in 4 years last season, hopefully he'll get another chance somewhere :(.
