I have read good things about the performance of Alphacool NexXxoS range of RADs from many reviews. So I bought one(Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Radiator 480) and it got delivered today.
YEY! I thought.
But after opening up the package this is what I saw

Dent on the rear of the RAD and it is covered in blisters and paint is chipping off!
This is from a brand new RAD! It seems like rust is building up from inside the paint.
That's one more manufacturer to my naughty list

Looks awful,I wouldnt expect that from a used part let alone a brand new one!.... Off topic question but just checked out your build log, what background is that on your pc? and is that a standard rainmeter profile or one you have customised yourself?... looks nice :D

At least it matches your mouse :p

On a serious note, create a topic in CS, link back to this topic and you'll probably find you'll get a really fast turn around on a new one.

You never know, it might have been fine when it left OcUK HQ, DPD driver maybe fancied a kick about.

Wallpaper is from a collection I had for a long time, it is Rainmeter but I have a custom skin written/modified by looking at other similar skins.

Not bought from OCUK sadly - they don't stock Alphacool RADs (yet). But I am going to call the shop I bought from first thing tomorrow morning!

EDIT:
It came with some other stuff well packaged with lot of bubble wrap and some foam things. Also the RAD comes in a cardboard box and wrapped in a bag made of bubble wrap. It doesn't seem like it has been ill treated by the delivery driver but some thing wrong with manufacturing.
Dent could be caused by poor handling but the blisters and rust and paint flaking off is more to do in the factory I think.

Could be down to poor storage too.

Kick up a fuss, try get something extra for the hassle ;)

Well I didn't go to work and was at home ll day as I have to sign for the delivery, I will be glade if I can get a refund quickly so I can order from elsewhere or something else. But I think it will take all this week for me to get the refund back to my bank :(
This also means I have to take another day off next week and I can not finish my build!
Sad times!

Not a clue what is going on with alphacool's websites, a german based one doesn't load and the american sites 'top news' is about an 8800GTS waterblock :p

Once you get a refund grab one of these.

There was a bad batch of the Alphacool rads where the pain was not curing properly. I know this has been fixed now and the radiator just took gold int he custom Pc awards :)

Send it back to the shop you brought it from and im sure they will arrange a replacement or refund for you if you are not happy.

So I called the shop I bought this from.
They were saying about bad quality in some of the Alphacool RADs but was shocked after seeing this thread!
Setting up a free collection for this one and refunding cost of the RAD and the original delivery charge(I had some other items delivered with this as well).
Although I have to wait about 3-5 working days for the money to show up in my account.
I am trying to access alphacool's site but it is not loading for me - even after updating java!
I want them to see this as well!

Try using the contact info from the outdated American site, get the same Java errors.

What's surprised me most is that everything I've owned from alphacool has been nothing short of top quality.

Will try that!

I have a D5 pump(re branded MCP655) and a top from Alphacool, bought less than a month ago, they were fine!
I was looking at some video reviews in you tube and TinyTimLogan did one for a 360XT and UT versions, he did mention some bad finish on paint work but it was just dust like particles not blisters and rust!
I wanted to post a comment on his youtube video as well but I cant post any comments(no post button).
I did post on martins site where he did a review on this as well.

Is that something to do with Quality?
Also RJK, I am trying to find Alphacool Uk or USA site but I can only see an outdated page, do you know where I can contact them and send these images as well?

no, just not a brand we are looking to promote. we have a superb relationship with Hardware labs [black ice] and XSPC which means its fairly pointless promoting other products.

OcUK only stocks the best.

they are owned by a well known EU watercooling and modding distributor...

Might wanna stock stock the Alphacool UT60 then as it spanks both Black ice and XSPC

:p:rolleyes:

@Avathar77 - Alphacool are already aware, I have contact with them (i'm in the trade) and as I said before the rad is from an old batch where there was an issue with the paint curing this one must have slipped through. Contact your reseller and they will be happy to send you a replacement from the new stock.

Yes I saw the review before ordering this but unfortunately with my planned tube routing I need some space between the PSU and RAD(Bottom of TJ07).
With my current GTX480 rad I can just about fit a 3/4" OD tube and GTX480 is 54mm Wide. SInce UT60 is 60mm it will not go with my plans!

Surely the radiator is made from copper or brass - neither of which rust....
