bob diamond resigns

A few weeks is nothing. They've not had long to prepare at all. As demonstrated by that curve-ball you mention.

Apologies, I thought he inquiry had been going on for a number of months. Either way, if you're going to start quizzing him in such detail and aggression then you need to make sure you're research and knowledge of the subject at hand is completely sound.

If it was someone like Max Keiser questioning him he would have tore him apart, even with little time to prepare.

This sounds like a farce. What did they expect to get from him? An admission of guilt? A sad face "I'm sorry". Sounds like there showboating but its not quite working out the way they want.

Absolutely, which is exactly why I believe they haven't had enough time to prepare. There's a lot to consider here. Much more than just "Were you being naughty?" so to allow the MPs to do this, they need time to study the material and situation and then ask questions - not just hurry into an inquiry and go by ear.

Personally, I think it should be QCs asking them questions from the bar, not a troop of MPs - a few of whom having previously relations to Bob! - sat around a table asking him how's the weather. :)

I sincerely doubt anyone would successfully tear him apart. He's known to be one of the best banking executives out there, built Barclays Capital into what they are now from BZW, built and successfully sold BGI, played a key role in the success and growth of Barclays Wealth, and worked tirelessly to combine Capital, Wealth and Stockbrokers into an excellent UK-focused investment firm.

He loves the bank, he's done well for them and they've done well for him.

Great another Levison style inquiry that will go on for months, bore the hell out of 90% of the population after the first week and like Levison will probably lose all idea of it's initial scope.

Not sure if that's a reply to me suggesting QCs ask questions, or if that's a reply to what we actually have going on at the moment? :p
