Yo

Going to newquay in a few weeks or so with some mates, just wondering if anyone can recomend a cheapish campsite close to newquay/fistrel beach. Had a look at parking at fistrel and it costs £7+ for the day! Would ideally like to camp within walking distance.

Any tips/tricks about what to do in newquay would be awesome, cheers!

Anywhere you can recomend? Want a good surf beach with good nightlife too.

my sisters boyfriend goes kite surfing at perranporth when he comes over from Jersey, so I guess that must be ok for surfing (I have no knowledge on this matter), and the is a bar on the beach which is always helpful. not sure what the nightlife is like, but from the stories I hear about Newquay, its quite rough and not overly nice there.

then another hill to fistral :p

I don't get the appeal of Newquay I really don't, there are much nicer places in cornwall.

Neither do I really but then I've lived here for nearly 20 years, I remember when I was in Buckinghamshire going to the seaside was amazing, I imagine if you've live inland Newquay could be appealing, lots of pubs and clubs for 'lads' and fantastic beaches/coastline walks for families.

Personally though I hate it here, there is a dark underbelly to this town, I guess like many seaside resorts, poor pay, high unemployment due to reliance on seasonal tourism, massive problem with alcoholism down here, lot of booze centric shops selling alcohol cheaper than soft drinks, right in the town we have a shop called 'Bargain Booze' opposite the 'Mind Centre' of all places, you have to chuckle when everyone piles out of the centre into the shop for their cheap cider lol.

lol yeh I hear bad things about tall trees/berties..... is ok for a day trip, but wouldn't fancy a night out there :p

I did notice last trip down there it seemed to be less beach type shops and more take away, off licence.....type shops.

You can just park on the roads near Fistral, I have never had to pay to park there.

Sure it can get busy, but if you're not an idiot and you get there at a decent time you'll get a space.

Too many macho macho boys in super tight t-shirts. On that note, don't forget your bright pink polo t-shirt...it's all the rage.

This.

Sadly it's the only thing Newquay has going for it. Kill off tourism and you are left with not even a town worth shopping in. Every shop seems to be tatty **** or some sort of newsagents. Saying that we now have a Superdry, so if you are rich...

Trenance is your best bet. Good luck with having some good weather. Also if you walk on the roads in Newquay and have no intention of moving out of the way when a car comes, don't expect me to stop lol. If I drive past Beach Night club there is always some ass who just won't get on the curb and ends up getting a nice tap from my side mirror.

Going newquay Friday till Monday for stag do! About 40 of us going we go every year which is always an awesome laugh! Even bought a new tight pink shirt to wear :)
