Temporary Car Insurance

Hi there,

Does anyone have any experience with temporary car insurance (1 week)? Need to borrow my girlfriend's car for a week however don't want to be added to her policy just in case for no claims etc...

Does anyone have an solutions?

OK, not having so much luck. Cheapest is £350 for 4 days!

I might get a year's insurance and just cancel within the 14 days. Does anyone know of any insurers who refund the remaining premium? (I expect an admin fee)
 
Can't her insurer just add you onto the car for a week? I do that all the time - stick people on for a week or so to borrow my car or share driving, etc. Usually only costs 20-25 quid. Just put someone on the other day for four weeks but as it was going to cost 25 quid a week, but only 50 to just put them on the policy till the end (11 months) I went for that instead. That's with Admiral.

Not quite. It was the only way for me to get temp insurance on my gto. Admiral were fine about it. Just dont crash as you will have to pay the full premium

What's your concern? That you'll crash your GFs car and wipe out her NCB? It's only a week - dont crash!

Or do you have your own insurance? If so can't you just get temp cover on another car for a week? Again I've done that several times myself. Last time was to add a car I was going to look at with a view to buy so I was fully covered to test drive it. Cost less than £20 to add it for a week.
 
My GF added me to her insurance before i was 25 for 2 weeks and it cost about £100.
You both wont be driving at the same time so it cant be that much.
