Ok serious question now, looking to move back to xbox from my ps3 for fifa later in the year and other random titles but the price diff between 4gb and 250gb versions seems steep.

Is the added space of any benefit realistically bearing in mind I play most of my games on PC and will continue to do so.

HD is very useful worth it in the long run especially as many current xbox titles can benefit from a large install.

Depends how many games you plan to get and whether you'll be getting much DLC/downloadable content and Live Arcade games etc.

Also demos/media all add up.

Just get the 250GB HDD version.

This is coming from someone who bought the original console with no HDD back in early 2006 (the 'Core' version which only came with a 64Mb memory card) and since then I've gone to the 20GB HDD and then to the 60GB HDD and it's still not enough space. You'd benefit from installing the games to the HDD as well since the disc spinning in the console will drive you insane with how loud the damn thing is.

It might seem more expensive, but you'd probably spend more money buying the HDD later then you would just by getting it now. Or you could look into getting the 4GB version and then look into getting a 2nd hand 250GB HDD off Ebay or something.

Edit: Then again you say the price difference is steep? I've just had a quick look and saw the 4GB is priced @ £139.99 and the 250GB is priced @ £179.99. When I bought my console the difference between versions was £199.99 and £279.99 and the more expensive version only had a 20GB HDD.

HD is pretty essential even if it's just the 20GB one, at least you can install a game to stop the disc drive going 24/7 and some games have extra content on a second disc you need to install too eg. Forza, BF3

Being honest I will probably only play fifa on release but you never know. Instead of keeping the ps3 I will probably sell it instead and get a 250gb

You could fill 4gb by just putting the BF3 disk in, why microsoft brought a 4gb version out i still have no idea.

you need 20GB for hardly any gaming at all ive just upped from the 20GB to 120 and feel its been worth every penny.

A number of users here are totally missing a couple of the current features of the Xbox before commenting.

(A) There is now Cloud based storage, so you can save your games to that.

(B) You can use drives or USB sticks of up to 16gb to store data on.
They even sell their own Xbox Flash sticks and have a guide on how to use it:
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/accessories/usb-flash-drive

So you really don't need the 250GB.

Can you actually install games and apps onto the USB drive?

Cost per GB wouldnt really make sense, the HD would be miles cheaper.

My biggest question is why ? You'll now have to pay for xbox live subs.

Have my reasons, mainly personal preference.

- More RL friends have Xbox's
- Prefer the controller
- Prefer the way live works over PSN

one quid a month is less expensive that what we pay here in the USA, which is like $50. I like to have the service but hardly ever ever use it. Maybe once every couple of months. So i do have a bit of a grudge on having to pay for it. Thing is without it, the 360 is on lockdown.
