Fair enough if you lower settings to increase your FPS and make the game run more smoothly, but putting your settings on low and depriving yourself of all the advances the graphical engine can offer just to give yourself a slight edge against others seems a bit over the top. All that stuff floating around just adds to the gameplay in my view - it makes the environment non-static and ever changing so you really have to look for the enemy rather than just reacting to the only obvious movements in the game world.

It's why I'm not a competitive gamer I guess. I play to enjoy the game and getting one up on my opponents in just part of the fun, not the only objective.

I am not competitive at all, couldn't care less if I came last all the time and a **** k/d etc. I just hate games where you have so much xxxx flying around on your screen that it gets distracting i.e. metro.

Also plenty of my friends think the exact same and is why they lower the graphics as they hate all the extras, they aren't competitive either, just **** around all the time jihad jeeps etc.


Saying that I hardly ever play BF 3 now, so I couldn't care less :p

Anyone come across a sorry state of a player called icefyreuk from the clan =LSAS=

This jokers are going to kill off the game faster than anything.

Because you kill them a few times you get kicked from the server with the comment " Camper Noob"

I looked at this jokers profile and he is 41!!

Guys, finally downloading BF3!!! Wooot, so going to be online tonight, however. I have the total vanilla version, no expansion packs. Will I be able to play on the server?

I was on a big ticket server last night, 2hrs 39mins for the round! I was exhausted lol

On a side note, I was teaming up with a decent pilot and owning the sky until a pathetic "I want the chopper, therefore you don't deserve to be my gunner" fool showed up. He'd fly 100ft and bail so that I'd fall to my death and he'd parachute back to a fast respawning heli.

Fool me once.. and all that.

Little did he know I am wise to this tactic and switched to the pilot seat and flew away trolololol.

You'll be fine on the vanilla maps, but not the expansion maps.

Where is the main menu to choose between single and multiplayer? Where can I change settings without being in a online game? This is STUPID!

Now I realise why I never bothered.

Start singleplayer to change your settings without playing.

If u have the vanilla version then premium would be extra value for u (back to karkland)! The old maps are a known quantity too, unlike future maps...

I found that with bf1942 I didnt like the expansion packs (apart from secret weapons of WWI), and I never bought bf2 expansions. BfBC2 vietnam I didn't like either. However I've bought premium from OcUK despite not playing since before the spring patch!

I thought Battlelog was going to be horrible, but it's actually pretty decent. I just wish there was a way to do stuff like edit settings and kit loadouts in it.

Origin is terrible, especially the adverts which repeatedly pop up for the same thing. They've said it's a bug they're trying to fix but that was aaaages ago, so I somehow doubt they're trying too hard. :rolleyes:

Would you still lower the graphics if you were playing single player, in this or any other game, just out of interest?
 
I guess it's an issue for people easily disttacted then. The atmosphere is what makes games like BF3, the debris, dust, sounds, everything combined and the details of textures just adds to the warzone feel.

If you have decent speakers or quality headphones coupled with a soundcard and/or amp that can output the sounds the way they're meant to be heard then that experience is even greater.

I don't play BF3 every night but when I do I'm always wowed at the experience, even if I do die a lot!

And that's why I refuse to game at lower than max playable settings. Thankfully the GTX570 is perfectly capable of max settings (just not with 4xFSAA) at 1920x1200 :p
 
I've had an issue with Caspian in the past, struggling to see people, but since I've started using that FXAA injector thing, or whatever it's called, everything is so much sharper, better looking and it's easier to see people.
