Now, I am not slating post men, they already have a tough job to do.

But we got a right twit on our route, he only started a week or so ago. The previous chap (really nice old lad, had all the time for him) had no issues.

The issue is our border colli has a grudge with letter entering the letterbox haha. She has never once bitten anyone, softest dog you will meet, and probably the derpiest as well bless her.

Anyway, the other day my mum was stopped in the middle of the road and questioned by the post man saying he will start refusing to put mail through the door in fear for his fingers.

Now, I can understand his point. But it's just not going to happen. I am at home today (day off woot!) and I just encountered this 'new guy'. Opel (dog) went rushing to the door and snatched the post from the letter box as he was feeding it through. He saw my silhouette so I thought I would apologies.

I open the door confronted with a real nasty peice of work, swearing, shouting "THAT DOG IS A WILD ANIMAL AND NEEDS TO BE PUT DOWN!" At which point she walked up to him and started to lick his fingers!

I said "Sorry mate, she is a bit dim and has a ongoing battle with evil envelopes". Trying to cheer the situation up... Nope.

"I have had it, I am reporting that dog, I want it dead before the end of the month".

At this point I turned hostile "Has she bitten you? Is she biting you now? No? Get out of my site, you report the dog, but now I will be reporting you"

So, I rang up the post office just now, they suggested a dog cage for the envelopes. Which is something that totally skipped my mind so will get one tomorrow. However, I know she will still run to the door and jump up against it.

If he does report dog, what sort of power will he have in actually having her put down? She has never bitten anyone, has a great reputation in the neighborhood with the families as she often plays with the children in the road on hot days (live in a close so it's very friendly).

Grrrr, grumpy arse, I know it's a tough job, but honestly?

EDIT!

Ok, I kid you not. Mum just got a call from the post office AND the police.

He reported it to the police that the dogs (we have 2, other doesn't bother with the door), were out on the street attacking people including him on several occasions and that we were overly abusive and threatened him...

So, mail delivery has been suspended to our address and we will hear back on Monday.

What the actual F? We have a witness not in the family, this is a worker that my mum employs as a personal assistant (mum works from home), who has witnessed both events.

This is a joke surely?

This is opel, the deadly being she is!

Thankfully...none. You may well get a visit. If you install the cage then I can't see any issue as you have actively looked to solve the letter problem.

If I was posting things through a letter box and a dog at the other side was snatching it as I was feeding it through I'd probably be a bit wary of it.

Perhaps you could put some sort of warning on the door to pre warn people. Half the time people get so shirty because they have been caught off guard.

Doesn't sound like he'll last long in his job.

This was my thought! The previous chap knew about her and always left the letters hanging instead of pushing them through knowing she loves to destroy out mail...

Actually, thinking about it, a cage will be awsome as I do tire of reading my letters with teeth marks lol.

Will install the cage tomorrow. Seems you can get clip on ones for fairly cheap.

Another great suggestion! And cheaper :)

I hope you are persuing a proper complaint against this idiot?

No, he is a grumpy arse. I put a complaint against him, saying his attitude was terrible but said I don't wish to take it further. He will undoubtedly get a quite word from his boss. Which is good enough for me. Just want him to know it's not hard for me to pick up the phone and bitch either.

this guy says he want your dog dead by the end of the month. you complain to the post office and they say get a dog gaurd?

i would be seeing red at this point.

What a ****. I'm amazed how these idiots manage to survive in society.....I would lodge a formal complaint in writing

Train the dog not to run up to the envelopes?

Oh we have tried, she is VERY obedient, very well trained. But with like all dogs, farting, chewing, barking ect ect. This is her one flaw.

I'd have bitten his fingers off myself!

People have bad days lol, this guy has a constant bad day every day. No point wasting my time with him to be honest. I am sure I am not the only one he has issues with.

I know a postie and dogs hate them, he has just recently been bitten by a "friendly dog" that never goes for anyone. Not sure what happens next but he ended up in a&e with a chunk taken from his arm.

Better to be safe and keep the dog in a different room or train it to ignore post.

You're being unfair to the postie. And yes I own a dog. He's put his hand into a letter box, that has no sign warning of the danger. He's new to the route. He's just had the **** scared out of him and thought he might have lost some digits. I know my postie. Dogs hate him. Despite the fact he owns two springers. He's been bitten several times. At least in an instance were you walk into a garden and a dog rushes at you, you can stick your boot into it. It's another matter entirely when you put your hand in somewhere not expecting to suddenly have teeth and saliva snatching at your digits.

Get a cage. You should have had one to make your first posties life easier.

You may know that but the postman just see's her when she's yanking the post out of his hand.
Postman may be a pleb but the confrontation was caused by your dogs mannerism.
Doubt he will report your dog, probably just a heat of the moment thing. :)
