That book..........

Twilight connection? I was not aware of this. The way I see it, it's just one of those phenomenons where it became fashionable to read it because everyone else did. It's actually quite sad. Basically an excuse for the modern society to "legitimately" read porn just because it's a book that's "meant to be good" based on hearsay. They just revel in reading erotic material and are too scared to do so any other time so need an excuse of a "known" modern book that has such content.

Every female I talk to of late knows of and is reading the books or wants to. I started to become interested and read a passage (no pun intended) of the first one the other day and it's poor!

My g/f is reading it and says it's boring and if people find it exciting because of the content, then there sex life must be pretty boring. But then she's only some of the way in, so possible it gets more S&M/violent later on.

The worst thing is....my Mum started talking to my g/f about it the other day coz she is also reading it. I had to leave the room. That's just wrong.

I took my better half and a group of her friends to see Prometheus the other week. On the way in the car the conversation turned to the books. I pointed out it was based on an erotic Twilight fanfic and all the girls immediately said they wouldn't read it simply based on that.

My Mrs asked me to get her a copy of "50 shades of Grey"

She was right ****ed off when I gave her a Dulux colour chart.

It is actually a pile of poop....my wife got the first one to what the fuss was about, read about a third of it before she got bored and went back to Storm of Swords.....I read it and it is was just poorly written **** porn tbh.

I don't doubt that it's rubbish, but to be fair SoS is quite the book to contend with ;)

I've got into huge arguments on Facebook with some lady friends about it. I have no aversion to erotica (I've read Anais Nin before now... cultured, yo) but when it's so terribly written it becomes genuinely difficult to read. Apparently that's not an acceptable criticism.

Atrociously written, quite why people are reading it rather than the well written erotica out there is beyond me. Though now due to its popularilty it's become acceptable to read you'll probably find a lot of women out there reading it because they want to read porn but want to read books that are accessible and dare I say safe.

I don't mind people saying they enjoy it but it does annoy when they try and convince me it's a good book!

I actually did a proper Lol for about 10 seconds.

just shows the differences between the sexes :
Women will read porn
Men want to watch porn.

But why has this one been so successful rather than the million and one 'better' ones out there?

Word of mouth, I guess because it is filth people do not explain exactly what is happening, however all the girls are saying how good it is, which leads to a chain reaction of people buying to see what it is like. Which means a chain reaction of sales and publicity I guess. I am sure in a few weeks it will die down and will never be spoken about again.
