Well after waiting 4 weeks for sky BB and after reading http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/SDHMPDN

Est 9mbps -18mbps.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 605 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.5 dB 11.2 dB
Noise Margin 15.3 dB 17.5 dB

Proper fail line :( 0.7mi - 3min walk from exchange.

anyone recommend anything?

Your line will take 10 days to trai. Itself, in that time it will establish its stability and speeds.
It will rapidly alter over the next few days. The noise margin is quite high currently but it will come down, most likely hit 6 by end of training

If you read the bumf you would have seen Sky say it starts at 4meg then gradually rises over the first 10 day period maybe even sooner.

yea mine was same only was getting 4mb but now just under 12 , ive upgraded to sky fibre up to 40mb , estimated 34mb.

cant wait for it to come on 17th.

Cool thanks guys, couldnt get fiberoptics in my area and as via sam knows sky have LLU so was an advantage i hope. Dont know how to check to see if im on LLU though

99.9% LLU. You can tell by looking at the name of the package you signed up for.

signed up to unlimited BB with Sky.

If you're on the unlimited package then you're on LLU (if your exchange didn't have sky LLU then you would've been on the connect package (if I've got it correct) which is just a resold BT ADSL product).

Also you should have at least two changes in speed by now (going from my own experience from starting off with sky).

Sky's DLM system usually retrains the line speed early in the morning, around 4am from what I remember. Also demonix is correct. LLU is Unlimited.

can you ask Sky to re-train your line? I messed with my router quite a bit in the first 10 days and get a poor speed.

Update :) 4 days later.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12286 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 dB 10.7 dB
Noise Margin 13.8 dB 16.2 dB

By the looks of it I think you have room to go higher.
With 19dB loop loss I'd be pushing SKY for an SNR value of at least 9dB for d.stream

You could probably at a push get away with 6dB on that tbh but you want a little room to breath stability wise.

Sky usually set at around 7dB so with six more deciBels of margin you should see more sync. I'm still thinking around 18-20 Mbit.
